Many ppl have their questions nowadays that...1)"Why is the download speed so less nowadays?"2)"Why the speed is limited to only 1 or 2 mbps now ? "3)People telling their friends:"BSNL 3G is so awesome !!! I have my downloading speed from 700 to 800 kbps ..... but now is ter an internal error that the speed is so less ?? "So ppl ( According to what i feel and my few mates experienced ) they have capped the speed. BSNL 3G sold thousands and thousands of sim cards and the "FAMOUS" 2 months 3 months 6 months plan ..... just to fupe you so that u can take their so called very sexy and attractive "plan" ... but their was another plan which was hidden in it.....Now according to the results which every1 is getting either he/she is limited to 1 or 2 mbps..... SO FOLKS WE R TRAPPED IN VICIOUS CIRCLE.:wall::wall:DREAM:1)bsnl will upgrade tower to 14mbps so we can get an unbelievable speed. ---- May be they dont want to give us indians the true happiness2)Browsing speed- ----- As I said in my early post that this is seriously a dream till now .... experienced other operators such as tata docomo 3G .... I saw by myself that the browsing speed is simply awesome..... speedtest result gave 65 ping ...... but theirplans also do suck bec of FUP.3)Online gaming ------ My lil brother's dream is shattered now.:wall::wall:Solution: Either change the sim try something another.... take a leased line or ppl like me who have recharged for 4200.... Just hope that this will end atleast 1 month before where we can bring back the gud old days...........................:wall::wall: EDIT: U will see only 1 smiley which is suitable for this post.

Wow what a bunch of cry babies!!!

1) I m yet to see any advertisement from stating that they will be providing 14.4Mbps or even 7.2Mbps speed... Even on their Rs 4200 plan advertisement they stated a speed of UPTO 3.6Mbps ... Everyone who bought the 3G plan should have been aware of the drawbacks of wireless internet... If they weren't then it is their own fault & not BSNL's... Also 2-2.5Mbps(thats what I m getting) is a respectable speed on a wireless upto 3.6Mbps connection...

2) I serously dont no wht u are talking about... Yes there were a lot of problems in the Nov Dec period with browsing coz of the DNS issue but that has been solved now & now browsing is pretty good on 3G...

3) Yes ppl told their friends that BSNL 3G is awesome but it is still their own fault if they do not read the speed stated by BSNL was clearly 3.6Mbps...So it was obvious any speed higher than that might not last forever... Many ppl who got the 6-7Mbps speed in the south got it for 2-3 months... Thats almost 1/2 the 6 months that they sighned the 4200 plan for... So they should be just grateful to BSNL for providing them double the advertised speed for this period...

BTW I dare u to find any other 2Mbps unlimited plan from a national ISP out there for 700/mo or even 1200/mo(if u count the investement of the 3g Modem too)... BSNL might be a Govt company but it still has to make money... BTW BSNL still has the best 3G plans in the country even though there is no unlimited now...

i agreed with rajadeep . i am using my sim card in bangalore and its in roaming sim from orissa. but i am fully satisfied with the speed . i am geting 2.6 Mbps download and 1Mbps browsing speed. as for the DNS issue , i think it was resolved even if peoples who face problem can use google or open DNS insted if they r using modems .the only thing i am missing in this whole thing is upload speed . i used to get upload speed of 1.5Mbps from BSNL now its not working. so expect that i am happy with the speed . I only can hope that bsnl again start unlimited speed because in my experience with 21mbps modem i got 1 mbps speed even when i was traveling in train .

Rajadeep i agree with some of your comments.Yes we need to thankfull to bsnl for giving 3 months 6-7mbps.but not soo thankful bcoz when i crossed 6mbps speed for more than 2min it disconnects. Now it is not 3.2mbps its limited to 1mbps. so you will get 900kbps-1mbps.is this good we paid 4200rs for 6months and i ASKED THAT STUPID CSC guy that is bsnl planing to upgrade the speed he said yes its upto 14mbps and those who recharge 4200 and all existing customers will get that speed too. After hearing that i recharge 4200rs. now you know what happened instead of increasing the speed they decrease the speed.

even if BSNL upgrades i think it will just be to accommodate more users and u will not c any diff in speed. Either BSNL had preplanned to cap speeds or too many ppl were using it for heavy d/l purposes and congesting the network making them cap the speeds as a desperate measure.

@rajadeep

If we were cry babies...... we wouldnt have opted for bsnl 3g in the first place..... would have gone for some another isp.......

1) u live in mumbai..... so the speed we ppl in the south experienced ....... u must have never experienced ......as u say "2-2.5 mbps is a respectable speed" then u dont know

the sheer power of 3G .....ppl r not fools to make modem capabilities upto 21 and 28 mbps.... wen u wer getting 2 mbps we were getting more than 5mbps ..... hence the post....

2) Browsing speed was a real problem in south........ there must have been no problem in maharahstra......... bec many ppl including my friends even now complain ... that in

our area browsing speed is a problem.

3) ya ofc we r thankful.... but they increased the expectancy from the people by doubling the speed and now suddenly they cap the speed...... I dont think as a customer who

is in south will be "very happy" about this decision..... if they plan to give till 3.2 mbps they gave more than 5 mbps ... and now not even proper 1 mbps.... what do u expect

we should be very GRATEFUL bec of this act ???

4) U must not have even have heard of ... It was even in news that till march 31 bsnl

ppl will upgrade the towers for 14 mbps ..... My MDMA still shows the downlink as

14200 somethin....... only the server has not been upgraded....... just simply google it

u will find it.

5)This ISP is called as National Internet Backbone .......if they are managing to be a Bharat-SNL.... this becomes a primary isp in India.... so ofc they should give us good

plans ......It is like a sole duty for them to provide gud plans in less budget....

It became a sole trap for us people who r in the south side of India where my own download speed went upto 1mbps where my brother in mumbai never ever got till 400 kbps...

They have earned enough money bec of this 2G scam so why do they want to waste customer's money now... LOL u care so much for their money :P

Just think the other side before u post........

I also agree with Rajadeep.

To answer the OPs questions:

1. The speed is less now because lakhs of people have joined up to this "unlimited" plans which severely cripples the ability of the network to deliver anywhere near what it should.
2. It's called congestion. Cell towers do not have unlimited capacity, no matter what speed they're set to deliver data at.
3. Equipment fails. Cell towers have CPUs. CPUs running at 90-100% load do not function optimally.

Dream:

1. Upgrading the towers to 14mbit/s will not help the 99% of people.
2. On a wired network, I would agree about the FUP issue and I do consider the FUPs imposed by most ISPs to be very unfair. But this is wireless. The other operators are just trying to keep a stable network with their caps and fair usage policies, which is better overall for the consumers.
3. Most forms of wireless are not good for online gaming. Period.

As I was saying over a year ago, 3G should never have been sold to the Indian public as a panacea to India's broadband problems and replacement for wired and other wireless services which are designed to handle higher traffic loads.

Dreams are dreams they are supposed to be shattered.Either your little brother is too little to understand the concept of online gaming and wireless network,or you need to grow up. Cry babies, made my day :D

Reports from Hyderabad and chennai-From last saturday morning all existing customers having 3 month or 6 months UL plans bought before jan 28th 2011 have been capped for good @1Mbps.It was up to 3.7 GB till last friday night in chennai.:ohyea:But new customers who have subscribed 1month Rs 1359/1500 are still getting usual speed. (1 to 3.7 Mbps)BSNL got customers because it was cheap & the first pan india 3g player.(quantity not quality).generally poor browsing, bad customer service and evening/latenight too slow due to too many subscribers. No body wants UL.15 GB/ rs 1500- BSNL renewal no way. But for 3g in remote B class towns still BSNL only choice. So one has to subscribe 2GB atleast/month with BSNL to cover travel to B class towns. Now we have to see who can give 2 MBs to 3.5 mbps speed with reasonable browsing experience to make the customer commit for up to Rs 1500-Rs 2000 for 10-20GB.Aircel,Airtel,Reliance,Vodaphone hopefully will roll out better data plans+speed .if BSNL prices their product on par with others- all their existing customers (cheapos) will migrate to other providers once their torture (validity)period is over.Airtel Rs 2000 for 13GbAircel -they say Rs 1275 /UL data along with data card.Reliance/Airtel -they have the all india network and if they can roll out 3g in all B class towns (apart from metro) like BSNL and offer a fair price + superior product- they will get market share.BSNL/MTNL has to underprice 30% to retain customers in big metros. B and C class town population -have no other choice.:imwink:Better speed+value data plans from other providers-kindly post.

Then how come other foreign countries have better 3G service than INDIA???

R these foreign countries using better equipments?? or something else??

I think it's a combination of several things - better equipment, less population, smaller coverage area, more available bandwidth per BTS.

More importantly, there are very few operators worldwide that I can think of that are offering anything like "unlimited usage" on 3G networks. I had unlimited 3G in Finland, but that's a very sparsely populated country with more bandwidth than it can shake a stick at - and almost as many mobile operators as India! (5 that I can think of off the top of my head and 3 other smaller operators).

The data caps in many countries are fairly reasonable (not in the US), but 35GB as the top-tier plan for BSNL is pretty damn good, all things considered - many operators around the world are settling for limits of between 5 and 20GB.

I love how this post has absolutely NOTHING to do with BSNL 3G. I'd like to see what speed you actually get on this 3G router when you get back to DXB. No offense or anything but wireless is worse than copper when it comes to reduction in signal strength over a given distance. Besides, few devices support much more than 14mbit/s on a good day - at least not the ones most people can afford.

So what if UAE offers 21mbit/s? Australia, Canada and numerous other countries have 21mbit/s too. Portugal has just started offering 42mbit/s... but big who cares. This is India we're talking about.

BSNL negotiates in such huge quantities of equipment that when they last tendered for equipment and provisions, 14mbit/s was probably best or second best you could get at that time.
