AND that also pure unlimited, and FUP does not exist there at all.
Original source

Really? Are you sure? I think this page begs to differ.

---------- Post added at 03:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:56 PM ----------

But u 4get that their is an exception to FUP, and that is UAE, i never heard the word FUP when i was there,Now comming to IBF i came to know that people r dying to get unlimited plans.

FUP exists for various reasons. There are 5 million people in the UAE, which statistically suggests about 1 million broadband connections. They have about half the submarine capacity of India for that many people only, plus they have land connections AND they're much closer to Europe, so it's a lot cheaper for them (we pay per KM on submarine cables)...

Even with all this they're still not very high in the International rankings of speed. This is why I keep telling you that the UAE is just not the pinnacle of broadband success that you keep painting it to be.

I'm getting PMs from people asking me to tell you to stop going on about it. I've done my best to shut you up, but until you actually go to another country and experience proper broadband for yourself, I fear that's not going to happen.

The plug and play Etisalat Mobile Broadband (including USB Modem: HSPA/HSPA+, 3G Router & Wireless Modem: HSPA) can be used with your own laptop or desktop computer, giving you convenience wherever you are.

Data Package Capacity | Rental Charges - AED/month | Out of Bundle Charges - AED/MB
1GB | 145 | 0.5
5GB | 295 | 0.25
Unlimited* | 395 | 0.15
* Fair usage of 10GB will apply.

Sorry, it's just not UNLIMITED like you say it is. Read the fine print.

oh, ok but atleast in thier BB they don't have any limit, and speeds are upto 30 mbps pure unlimited.

I'm sure if people were willing to pay Rs9k for their Internet in India, then more companies in India would offer that too. But they're not. What does Etisalat provide in Rs1-2k? Sweet bugger all is what.

Indian salaries are less than Emirati ones, a large number of people in the Emirates are highly-paid expats (or were) who can afford these kinds of prices without blinking an eye.

Now would you PLEASE stop going on about the UAE, for the sake of everyone's sanity? This is a discussion on BSNL 3G.

No, i will prove u wrong,
C for yourself, that UAE comes in the top 30 beating US, UK, in speedtest.net

Speedtest.net - World Results

Expand the list and c UAE is exactly on 30 th rank, beating US and UK.

IMO, the US doesn't have anything to sing about either, nor does the UK, but more to the point, speedtest.net is automatically skewed - the UAE server is provided by du, one of the only 2 ISPs in the country, and so speeds between that server and the customer will naturally be good.

For a more accurate look at the situation, we can always check the Akamai "State of the Internet" report which is going to show what speeds are given when customers are accessing actual content, and if you check page 30, you'll find it actually has an average connection speed of just 2.4mbit/s, with the UK at 4.0 and the USA at 5.0 - so who is right?

But again. Big who cares. This is a BSNL thread. I'm sure I'm not alone in asking that we talk about BSNL only. Thanks for your anticipated co-operation.

@rajadeep

If we were cry babies...... we wouldnt have opted for bsnl 3g in the first place..... would have gone for some another isp.......

Err not sure wht to make of this statement lolz... But I will give it a shot... How does ur choosing BSNL 3G govern weather u are a cry baby or not??? Is BSNL 3G exculsive to happy babies??? Kuchi kuchi ku अच्छे बच्चे रोते नहीं :P ...

1) u live in mumbai..... so the speed we ppl in the south experienced ....... u must have never experienced ......as u say "2-2.5 mbps is a respectable speed" then u dont know

the sheer power of 3G .....ppl r not fools to make modem capabilities upto 21 and 28 mbps.... wen u wer getting 2 mbps we were getting more than 5mbps ..... hence the post....

Hmm In the summer of 2009 I lived for 3 months in Toronto where my bro had a 25Mbps connection... When I returned to India I came back to my 1Mbps MTNL connection... So I m much more aware of the effects of downgrade of speeds than u think... This is one of the main reasons I m excited about Hayai...Also stop quoting me out of context... I said BSNL promised u 3.6Mbps speed & 2-2.5Mbps on a wireless 3.6Mbps connection is a respectable speed...

2) Browsing speed was a real problem in south........ there must have been no problem in maharahstra......... bec many ppl including my friends even now complain ... that in

our area browsing speed is a problem.

I again come back to my earlier point that most of us knew about these problems long before we subscribed to the 4200 plan... If u didnt then thats just too bad...

3) ya ofc we r thankful.... but they increased the expectancy from the people by doubling the speed and now suddenly they cap the speed...... I dont think as a customer who

is in south will be "very happy" about this decision..... if they plan to give till 3.2 mbps they gave more than 5 mbps ... and now not even proper 1 mbps.... what do u expect

we should be very GRATEFUL bec of this act ???

Of course noone would like it if his speed is reduced... But I come back to my point that BSNL promised u 3.6Mbps... So if u received more than that u should be grateful for it... Again I repeat myself & say that BSNL 3G is a wireless medium so its nature is to be unstable... We all knew this before we committed for 6 months... It was a calculated risk on our part & it paid off for some & didnt pay off for the others...

4) U must not have even have heard of ... It was even in news that till march 31 bsnl

ppl will upgrade the towers for 14 mbps ..... My MDMA still shows the downlink as

14200 somethin....... only the server has not been upgraded....... just simply google it

u will find it.

Thank u so much for this wonderful assumption of urs... Just to clear regarding my knowledge of BSNL's plan to upgrade speeds to 14.4Mbps pls refer to my Posts made by me in this Thread on 6th Feb...

5)This ISP is called as National Internet Backbone .......if they are managing to be a Bharat-SNL.... this becomes a primary isp in India.... so ofc they should give us good

plans ......It is like a sole duty for them to provide gud plans in less budget....

It became a sole trap for us people who r in the south side of India where my own download speed went upto 1mbps where my brother in mumbai never ever got till 400 kbps...

Not sure what to say to that... Govt companies are still businesses & should make a decent profit... If they dont they are just cheating ppl who invest in their shares(many Govt companies are publicly listed)... BTW if BSNL goes to the brink of bankruptcy & the Govt has to bail it out it will be out of the Tax money we worked so hard to earn... I m sure there can be better use of that money rather than having to bail out sick companies...

They have earned enough money bec of this 2G scam so why do they want to waste customer's money now... LOL u care so much for their money :P

Just think the other side before u post........

Ok now this is just plain sad... I would like to know how in the world did BSNL benefit from the 2G scam??? Also how are they wasting ur money... All said & done BSNL is still providing u the cheapest internet... Pls tell me which other National ISP is providing 2Mbps unlimited for ~ Rs 630/mo ??? Hell forget 2Mbps try to find another ISP that is providing even 1Mbps at this rate... BTW as BSNL is a Govt owned company its not "their money" its "our money" ...

PS multiple quotes suck man :(

@sach92 Is there anyway we can help u immigrate to UAE faster so that u shut up about how great UAE is & how u would like to move there :( ... Your problem is u have most probably seen only UAE outside of India... Believe me there are lots & lots of places which have a better quality of life than UAE...

@mgcarley - excellent response. I totally agree that this 3G technology cannot replace the wired connection in India for another few years. NEVER MOVE your existing wired to 3G. If you want 24x7 stable connectivity, then please keep your existing wired broadband. Bottomline (for the Rs.4200/6months plan), I feel that I am using a "Use and Throw" product. I must admit that the speed is very excellent at "some" hours of the day, which is usually very early mornings. But for the whole day the speed is unsatisfactory. The login operations to Gmail, Facebook takes time. I have to hit the Login button multiple times to get into the sites. This may be a BIG lesson learnt for BSNL... Hope they don't blindly release any Unlimited Plans which brings congestion to their infrastructure.

srsly sum ppl r taking it very personally and immaturely lol...... but I have problem with the bsnl ppl and not others...... there are couple of fan boys which are waiting for somenice ISP to change everything ..... keep waiting.... no issues .... even I am waiting sumthing good to happen.I feel sum ppl are from CC who want to erupt their agony sumwer. :D

Hey man don't u have any other job than repeatedly post UAE,ETISALAT and DU names.

I have seen u doing this virtually in every thread from Hayai, bsnl and what not....ar u worker of this above three or a person hired to babber around this names.:notallowed:

And are u really comparing countries like USA,UK to UAE. Do you really think from the slightest of thought that an average UAE citizen enjoys better connectivity/experience then a citizen of USA. To even think of it would be a JOKE.
God forbid if USA tomorrow switches of its servers the whole world would beg in their knees which includes UAE as well as India. Countries like USA don't necessarily have to come first in the rat race of HIGH SPEEDS. Perhaps they never can bcoz its damm the 3rd most populous country in the world.

I can bet u most of the people in India as well as US may not have even heard of this names(which includes UAE):hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:

I have observed my speed capped recently (chennai) from 3.6 mbps to 1 mbps dl and up link from 1 mbps down to .5mbps. I read a article about mobile broadband they described giving individual speed to all is impossible in mobile network since it requires 10-20 times more spectrum at-least. Every country started keeping caps on mobile broadband to prevent few people damaging network quality due to very high cost of spectrum coz its a limited resource. I saw docomo has highest data plan in 3g is 15 GB cap. oops we forget its only for mobile devices. I wish BSNL provide UL1350 with at-least 100GB cap. Pay per site is worst nightmare.

Where do people come up with this stuff?

Spectrum is far from a limited resource - spectrum is light, although at the frequencies we are talking about we call it by the name "radio". While there are certain definitions as to which parts of the spectrum are suitable for various types of wireless technologies, it's not the factor which causes operators to put limits on wireless plans - it's more a quality of service issue.

With "unlimited" access - or even 100GB per month per subscriber - it's very difficult to provide a good quality of service over wireless, no matter how little or how much spectrum you own.

You can test this yourself with any consumer WiFi router - connect 3 or 4 clients to it and send files to each other and see how the throughput reduces exponentially, even if you have the latest N standard devices. Now imagine that multiplied by 100 (albeit on much better hardware).

Now all old customers who bought 6 month/3 month UL plans before jan 30th '11 have been capped @1 Mbps in most states in south till their plan runs out!:ohyea:new customers who subscribe Rs 1359/1500 /15Gb/month (or with out any fixed subcriptions in 3g sim )have no speed cap issues.early morning up to 3.7 Mbps ,generally poor browsing during most of the day.evenings crawling speed with poor browsing to all .:owhat is the story about MTNL customers in Mumbai and Delhi.Customers who bought 3 month and 6 month plans before Jan 30th are still capped or getting normal speed (1 to 3 mbps) ?Is MTNL still offering U/L plans unlike BSNL ?Aircel says they will give Rs 1275 U/L data plan with data card.(chennai,Hyd,bangalore launched). In Mumbai which operator gives good speed and valure for money dta plan for 5/10/15/20 gb usage?
