BSNL 3G is now offering unlimited data for Rs. 1099 (Rs. 156 for 2GB/Rs. 549 for 10GB)

@cadence : You could do 1100 recharge and you will get 1200 Rs. balance ( 100 rs bonus here ) Then you will be charged around 940 Rs. for activating 1099 plan via SMS ( That is 14.5 percent off as tax isn't deducted). Finally you will get 31 days U/L and not 30 days U/L whereas for other operators 1 month equals 28 days. But do confirm again by CC that you could activate these plans by Main balance through SMS or not otherwise you will be in loss. Effectively you would get 9.1 percent extra balance and 14.5 percent less deduction while activating , so total discount of 23.6 percent means 1099 pack will cost you 840 Ruppee a month approximately. You could use Paytm/freecharge/mobikwik for additional cash back or discount.

@candene Yupp BSNL doesn't charge service tax if a recharge is done through main balance as you have already paid it while topping up account.. So ultimately you have to pay around 85% of MRP and if you recharge it using full talk-time voucher(which BSNL offers as special offer during festivals or other important dates) you will be in profit.
Though I am not 100% sure but if you migrate your plan to student special plan you will always get full TT for vouchers above 500, confirm it with your CC and yes if you haven't checked speed of 3G first do a recharge of 78 which would give you 1GB for 5days and that would be enough for you to test it properly.

Would it make a difference in speed if i use bsnl sim in hspa only phone? I mean,if the phone doesn't have hspa + ,would it impact the speeds?Considering BSNL has only 14.2Mbit network i guess?
 
In my case it does gives lesser speeds , I have all 3 types of dongles and speed I have listed below are taken during night time around 1AM
HSDPA dongle (Tata photon unlocked 7.2 mbps max) - speed 3-4Mbps
HSPA (Huawei 14.4 Mbps usb dongle ) - 6-9Mbps
HSPA+ ( Huawei 21.1 Mbps Wingle e 8231 ) - 9- 13Mbps

I use the same huawei e8231 wingle and the 192.168. page shows 5 greeen bars and 3G written below it. I dont understand why am I not getting H+ speeds. Will using a USB extender and hanging the wingle outside help or it wont make much difference since I already get 5 bars
 
In my place bsnl has only H network.I tried the sim in two phones(OnePlus 3 and moto g4 plus) ,both show only H network.
