Then I tried BSNL Portal
Okay I'll give it a go. Oh and idk if it means code is wrong or whatever but I did get a response saying "Sorry, No bundles available for the corresponding BundleID"
@Nic Only thing leftout is to call BSNL CC 5-6 times and ask for code, One of them will surely tell you the code otherwise go to local retailer and ask them about activating Data pack via SMS. Thirdly , Have you tried activating any other pack than 1099 like stvdata4 or so. Whats your balance currently ?
I called the cc but they're reluctant to give any info. They just go on about the ussd way and ignore everything else. Anyways, I've recharged the 1099 pack on Paytm. It works well but speed is questionable. In the task manager > resource it shows my connection is of 10mbps but I'm getting around 250-400KBps on idm. Is that normal? And sometimes speedtest.net shows 34ish mpbs on download, 300ish pings and 3ish mbps on upload (!) This happens when I'm getting 4 bars with H+ Using the old Micromax dongle. But even then I don't get more than 400KBps on download. Weird..
Are you sure? 34mbps D/L in speedtest but BSNL 3G HSPAP/HSPA+ is capable of maximum 21Mbps.
Other than that You said, you are getting 250-400KBps means 2-3.12 Mbps which is quite normal for 3G network. If you are in some rural or semi urban area, It's still a stellar deal to have 2+Mbps wireless connection. From next time this plan will cost you 955 Rs only as once you recharge this plan will show up in stv subcribe *123# ussd. Lastly, Whats the speed you are getting with your mobile because I remember getting speed like 2-4 mbps in my old D-Link dongle, Then I updated it to Huawei and now I am getting 8-10Mbps around.
Yeah, it's weird. It's a small town so 2-4mb is pretty good. Or at least better than BSNL broadband. I'm getting around 2-4mb on iPhone 7 and 1-2mb on Xperia Z2. It gets weirder because while I'm on phone I don't see h+ and it interchanges between 3G to H. Maybe that's why speed is kinda slow. Anyways, I'm thinking about upgrading my dongle. Which Huawei dongle you're using?
My dongle is Huawei E 8321, I always keep it near window or Terrace then repeat it via the wireless repeater. Secondly, you are saying that its fluctuating between 3g and H only means you don't have H+( 14.4 or 21.6 Mbps BTS in your areas). Considering you have only UMTS/3G/HSDPA , 2-4 Mbps is very good speed. I recommend you to go to nearest BSNL exchange and meet JTO there and register complaint saying that you are getting very slow speed 0.5 Mbps max in your area 2-3 times, Usually, those guys are young and do help, In my guys that guy said that he lodged complaint with upper authority and upgraded our area BTS.
