Hello Friends, this is my first post in this forumI have been using dataone for over 2 years now and today I observed a strange behaviorI have a type 2 modem connected through USBAfter connecting to dataone through the icon on my desktop - there's no indication of network connection in the taskbar. Moreover, the dataone icon on the desktop which usually glows in blue after being connected shows as disconnected. On right click I get an option to connect but it doesn't workAll the pages are opening fine and my network connections show Local Area Connection 2 as active and DataOne disconnected. This is something I've never experienced before.Does anyone know why this is happening? Is this something I should be worried about? Something to do with virus or any file being corrupted? Thanks a lot in advance

Thanks essbebeIts back to normal now.It came back to normal even before I applied your suggestion.I wonder why it happened. Thanks again!:)

@probuddhaAfter giving you the suggestion and following it ,I got the Icon in my Task Bar ! ( two monitors!)You should also confirm whether those boxes have been enabled or not >If proper feedback is not given, at a later date, someone else accessing this thread via search engines will not get the proper answer.A feedback Positive or Negative is always welcome.Para two : For instance I struggled for four days with an error message : Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close "I could not run AV programs or antimalware programs.SFC /scannow reported no errors ( twice done )I tried Google search and read many threads including Microsoft sites.Short of formatting and reloading XP SP2 again, I tried allincluding the Tool Bar repair tool ( for Windows explorer etc )h t t p://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/Tried also Yahoo Antispy on line !Finally I tried a new approach and solved the problem !It was a very simple solution !

Hi EssbebeI agree with you that if I do not confirm whether your solution works or not - lurkers accessing this thread later on won't be able to judge whether the solution works or notSo I tried your suggestion and the Local Area Connection 2 icon now appears in the taskbar along with the DataOne iconSo I confirm that your solution worksThanks!
