i am not able to access modem so there is no way to update firmware

If YES
Check your present dynamic IP.
http://checkip.dyndns.com/
enter it in address bar of browser.
Do you get a window for accessing the modem ?

Option 2 :
StaRT nETWORK LAN
Properties
Network settings page
select TCP/IP
select Obtain Ip address automatically
Apply SAVE

3.
Start RUn type cmd Ok
New window opens
type ipconfig /all

The default Gateway is your modem's.

4.
.Reset the modem with power on for 20 to 30 seconds
Default Factory settings.
Use a dialer and try Internet connection.

i have another modem through which i connect to internet.

my first modem has corrupted ROM and i don't think i will work again
