assuming that u r trying to access modem home page from local network MAC that is the point i explained in my previous post. check my routers settings (in same post). here i have marked ips of routers WAN port...so u might have noticed.. when PPPoE on router is terminated, ips of WAN port is 0.0.0.0... and there is an active connection between ur modem and router only when PPPoE is connected...got me.so in either way u cannot connect to check modems home page in following setup.modem>>>>>>>.router>>>>>>>>PCwhat ip will u use to try to access??? got me...for ur set up u may use 192.168.1.1 right... but check ur routers status... there will be a ip of different class and range.i hope u got my point now.so in total u cannot access modems home page , with router set with PPPoE!!if u want to access both modem's and router's home page from ur local network... set PPPoE in modem not router and set router with static WAN ip. but in that case u wont be able to access routers home page from publc network or internet, but u can access modem's home page from net... so choose what ur priority is ..hope i m not making u more confused !!!

arrey uncle u repeated what i posted in my 1st post 3 times and said got me everytime.....yes i got you from the start....xD :thumb: Now router firmware access is critical as i mentioned its a wireless router... constantly requires me to go and add wireless devices(MAC add )and give them access or scheduled access. Using PPPOE of modem has always worked for me..., as in i have been able to access modem firmware from remote or local. The point here is to access both..... and I have already listed my plan in the previous post. So wait and watch....:cool2:

@appus i dont think you got the question right....

i think now i know where i was wrong.. i was using PPPoE in my modem, so

i confg modem on bridge mode and set my PPPoE in router. thats it my problem was solved. was able to access my router through net..

Mac,

that is what i told in the my first reply :) [i guess, i understood the problem]

@doomrock,

You just need to forward that port for accessing the IP camera. Nothing else !
I have tried this and worked.. I had different setup. I had a printer, and i made that as an internet printer thru the above setup

1. adsl modem.
2. D-Link router
3. ethernet printer.

You are just using the telephone (modem) for dialing. So you dont have to care anything about modem as we dont have any information set there . Why people are worrying about modem. modem is not accessible thru net. instead, Router will be accessible !!

For torrents, you do the same setup with port forwarded on router with bridging modem n router !

So, you should be fine with your IP Camera !

@doomrock,
i just read your question completely now..

if you dmz to ip camera, you just need to type http://IP or http://yourddnsname.dyndns.org

if you forward just a port to ip camera, you need to do http://ip:port or http://yourddnsname.dyndns.org:port

i think there is not much to worry.. ! you should be able to do with ease !

thanx APPUS... but 1 thing APPUS...i never confg port forwarding for my torrent client. but still i m having 270~300 KB/s download speed .. is there any thing to worry abut?? may b since i have selected "allow" opton in global control of the router's default access rule..help says "If user selects "allow" as the default action, the router by default will allow all types of application at any time to access the Internet."also APPUS as u mentioned abut DMZ ... i m still not clear abut DMZ. that is, since ip camera or printer in ur case is in local network i.e maybe in the range of 192.16.2.x ....when usng //ip or //yourhostname.dyndns.org , how can i access ip camera... my pont is shouldn't there be a wild card entry...i.e x.yourname.dyndns.org ?? or m i wrong abut wild card... correct me if i m wrong pls.i feel port forwarding method will be safer i case of ip camera..which method have u used for ur printer??HAPPY DIWALI to all my friends out here :)

In torrent client (utorrent?) , can you see a green checkmark or an yellow one(asterisk) on the bottom ? If it is green, somehow it is forwarded(DMZ'ed to your pc). If it is yellow, nothing to worry. You may get even better speed by doing port forwarding

may b since i have selected "allow" opton in global control of the router's default access rule..help says "If user selects "allow" as the default action, the router by default will allow all types of application at any time to access the Internet."

better you do everything manually in router. you may have max less than 10-15 apps need to connect right? and out of that, many dont need port forwarding.

also APPUS as u mentioned abut DMZ ... i m still not clear abut DMZ. that is, since ip camera or printer in ur case is in local network i.e maybe in the range of 192.16.2.x ....when usng //ip or //yourhostname.dyndns.org , how can i access ip camera... my pont is shouldn't there be a wild card entry...i.e x.yourname.dyndns.org ?? or m i wrong abut wild card... correct me if i m wrong pls.

Port forwarding is always a better option unless you have everything to control (like internet security /firewall correctly configured)....

Port forwarding: it forwards only the particular port we mention !
DMZ : demilitarized zone, forwards everyports to the computer on the ip we specify.

When to use portforwarding: If we know which port to forward and less application needs port forwarding...
eg: torrent, ipcamera

When to use DMZ: We dont know which ports needs to be forwarded and many application needs to access your pc !
eg :Ftp server, webserver, remote applications, sql server, and many other.. (ie, if you have a huge list) Remember: you can still use Portforwarding if you have time to enter all the port details !

In your case for torrent, ipcamera, even two three applications, you can use portforwarding !

when u use http :// yourip, by default, it searches your port 80 (normally webserver, router) (if you have an option to configure, then router will be 8080)

So, if you forward to any other port, you have to mention in the address as i mentioned in the previous post ! ( : & port was together so it became :P , that was due to my carelessness)

it should be http :// yourip: port or http :// hostname.dyndns.org : port

Remember: if you dmz, you give ip instead of ports. so, if someone try pinging to your web ip 117.x.x.x , it pings on your computer. If you do portforwarding , it hits on the router and bounce back. (unless correct port is mentioned along with ip)

i feel port forwarding method will be safer i case of ip camera..which method have u used for ur printer??
always use port forwarding ! I had windows firewall on, norton internet security firewall on, so i DMZ to my PC with portforwarding one port to printer... (was almost 3-4 years back)

I was running many application that time..
Audio streaming, video streaming, ftp, http, sql, mIRC, torrents , Microsoft remote desktop (MSTSC), RemoteAdmin... etc.. etc........ :P

HAPPY DIWALI to all my friends out here :)
