Hellooooo....First of all hi to all members of Broadband forum. This is my first post. Before i go into details let me give my connection specs....I have a 750 UL home plan(Bandwidth around 2mbps),UT Starcom WA3002-g1 ADSL router. I use PPPoA/PPPoE encapsulation.Since I have a Laptop and a desktop I have NATed the network.Uses DHCP pool.Uses Port forwarding for Azueres,eMule and Hamachi,Ultra VNC,pcAnywhere,Remote Desktop etc....Some of these are done automatically by UPnP service....So now that if my home pc is Switched On I can Access it from anywhere in this world. But this is not the problem
. My problem is that if my computer is shutdown I want to wake it up from any location... I can wake my computer from my inside network but can't wake the pc from outside network(internet). Waking up a PC can be done by WOL(Wake on LAN) or WOWL (Wake On Wireless LAN), using some specific program, but wat I want to do is to wake my pc from a remote place through internet. I know that it can be done by correctly forwarding the Magic packets...(oops I forgot to mention WOL and WOWL uses magic packets to wake up the pc).It either uses ports 6,9 or 32767. And ofcourse i have my home pc's MAC address(without that i wont be able to wake that thing...) So let me be little more clear, WOL is done by sending magic packet to the broadcast address, ie, if your private range address 192.168.1.2,subnet mask 255.255.255.0, then the broadcast address will be 192.168.1.255, but the thing is that router wont forward broadcasts...Wat i want to do is to forward this packet to private network...since port forwarding is not working i need someone to help to do this...Anyway thanks in advance and I feel this will be a useful thread...Have a Nice Time.....Bobby Thomas,Trivandrum,Kerala.
