On Airtel website, they try to scare people that some users will occupy most of bandwidth by heavy downloading and rest of the users will suffer. Hence they claim to impose FUP. But even by their own logic, the FUP limits is a scam. 5GB, 10GB, 15 GB, 20GB on Broadband are ridiculous in present age of internet. ISPs are the ones abusing their FUP policies, not the customers. If ISPs provide reasonable FUP limits then users won't criticize ISP and demand unlimited plans.
I'd say reasonable FUP limits must start with 20 GB for Internet beginners. Then go towards 50GB for normal users, followed by 100 GB - 200 GB for high Data users. As long as telecom companies can't raise minimum broadband speed, they must provide optimum FUP limits along with reasonable tariff prices.
BSNL having 1GB, 3 GB, 6GB, 8GB.... FUP limits is epitome of stupidity. They need to do better than that.
I don't demand FUPless internet. Its practically impossible at present in India. But i expect rational FUP limits and reasonable priced tariff plans. At least that should be done as part of Digital India campaign.
