BSNL Broadband's new revolutionary (lol) broadband plans with minimum 2mbps speeds (lol)

Act is good only in hyd....even in blr its not upto the mark. The service quality is good bcoz in hyd they have a very huge service team to maintain services. ....
BTW i loved the beam experience... In hyd for 3 long years...

ACT should consider covering PAN India now it will thrive and thrive big for sure.

I don't know why people expect BSNL to deliver on 2 Mbps post FUP speed. They're simply incapable of that. Most of the money poured for expansion of BSNL got sucked in the corrupt machinery of BSNL. And then Govt refused to invest in expansion of BSNL. So Govt is just waiting for BSNL to go Bankrupt.

For those who don't know about "How did idea of 2 Mbps minimum Broadband Speed came up"? It came up around 2009-10 when TRAI thought 2 Mbps is much needed speed for Broadband. In 2009, India's economy was going well. The spectrum was cheap. The telecom industry was fast expanding. There were very little NPAs in telecom industry and in economy in General.

But much happened after that. India's economy slowed down considerable. The Spectrum allocation was completely changed. The telecom industry was deeply affected by slowdown. There were change in telecom laws which were more of a hindrance than boost for telecom growth. The NPAs rose sharply. Bottom line - Telecom industry now in bad shape.

I don't think BSNL is selfishly throttling speeds. They simply don't have network Infrastructure and Govt is refusing to invest on that.

I think only Airtel has Infrastructure to give Stable 2 Mbps minimum speed but that too in limited coverage. Maybe top tier cities at best.

^^ BSNL incapable of what ?
They should start by providing us 2mbps night unlimited - No excuses. Internet at night is much more stable (Ping is nice too!) and there is very less traffic.

Do 10PM-6AM.

BSNL used to do that earlier. MTNL still do it. But Night 2 Mbps plans are only beneficial for users who can use internet at night. And i think most people don't have time to use internet between 10PM-6AM. All major telecom companies have discontinued night top up plans. Many people don't know that even Airtel had night top up plans without FUP.

Now telecom companies have streamlined their tariff plans for broader public. They don't care for few people who need Unlimited downloading at night.

@India_King what spectrum has anything to do with copper based adsl infrastructure? Bsnl is sitting on copper laid at time it was dept of telecom or dot. Where everything was funded by taxpayer money. Only fiber is needed to link these exchanges which is already done in last 10years thanks to tax benefit they get which none pvt operators got.
Add to it all govt dept are forced to take landline from bsnl only where they were charging 1.2Rs per min whereas mobile operators are charging just 30-50p for last whole decade.

@India_King what spectrum has anything to do with copper based adsl infrastructure?

DSL not just work on copper cables. It requires a lot more Infrastructure. Cables are just means for transmission.

New technology allows DSL to easily go to 100 Mbps on copper wires. But that requires overhaul of Network Infrastructure with new equipment and exchanges. So laying cables alone won't mean anything if rest of Infrastructure isn't prepared.

Now how does Spectrum allocation comes in play. The telecom companies spent too much to get spectrum licenses so they could not invest much on rest of their business that includes wired broadband. Even in terms of Spectrum. Telecom companies spent too much on 4G so they could not invest in fully unlocking the potential of 3G.
