They were not selling any BB Modem in Kolkata. Only renting them. But tariff said that the modem can be purchased for 2000. That is why I purchased DSL-502T for 2500. I applied for surrendering rented modem only yesterday. There is little uniformity.

If u press CalTel or any BSNL ppl, they will sell the modem instead of rent it to u. They bascially are trying to create an air that modem for sale have finished and those for rent are available. How smart of them to fool us !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

U r doing that job !!!! :P :P

I am yet to come accross anyone who has rented modem. Those who tool advise from me have all purchsed modem from BSNL or outside on their own.The system runs equally well and fast on both types of modem ( purched thru BSNl and purchased thru market ).

I am renting the modem from BSNL , in preparation of surrendering it back in case they dont improve their packages hehe... or some better offer comes along from other ISPs... dont want to be stuck with an incompatible modem..yea i know i could sell it again to some other BSNL user, but i dont want that hassle 8-)
