BSNL FTTH flyers sent by email to Bangalore Broadband Users

@devx101

As of now, they have installed fiber in every apartment, they have yet to start services on fiber for others. I doubt they will charge a nominal fee because the ont itself costs around 3k, and I doubt that everyone would pay that much just to shift from copper to fiber.

That 's good...

Update - signed on as an ftth iptv beta tester, an hd box will arrive by tuesday, will post pictures and a review then.

yupee...finally BSNL waking up....dying to have a true triple play like experience like fios.:surprise:

Iptv was an option right since the start, now they are providing it free of cost, and in return they ask me for feedback and areas of improvement once in a few days. Right now, I've got an sd box, they've promised me an hd one by Tuesday, so let's see. And if I take their Iptv, I don't have to pay for the box, instead a monthly rent of 271 for about 200 channels

yeah i know but bsnl's iptv through franchise and on copper was an utter failure. I hope this time they are not providing it through a franchise my way and all that stuff....

BTW one question, if the guy who comes for feedback turns out to be BB literate guy(not a lineman) you can ask him abt the astronomical rates of BSNL ftth bb..He might have some knowledge when the outrageous pricing will stop.

& BSNL still refuses to show any interest in my area even as we promised at least 5 connections(not in a apartment though, but in the same street)... fact being that BSNL is the only wired provider here and all other Wimax/other form of wireless broadband providers being highly inefficient in SLA/Quality or good tariff plans

We live in a society deprived of GOOD BROADBAND CONNECTIONS !

@devx101 The fibre is provided by aksh optifibre and the service is by bsnl. Yeah, the guy who comes at my place, is quite bb literate, infact most of the guys related to the ftth dept know their stuff, he told me a rs. 999 plan on the lines of mtnls 1mbps unlimited will be offered soon. @madhusudhan7Who is handling the fibre rollout down south? Out here in gurgaon, our colony is being used as a pilot project, before they launch it large scale. I think they've rolled out ftth in jaipur too. I think you should speak to the company handling the fibre rollout to get a better picture coz they are the ones who will lay the fibre upto your house.

I could not find out who's handling fibre rollout in Bangalore, it's not online nor would i know someone who can get me this info. Could it be Myway - they are providing IPTV services in Bangalore otherwise

oh, they still have franchise system...Seeing the reports and extremely poor adoption i thought they will terminate the system. But i think the failure was more due to loading all this on poor old copper, may be fiber brings a new dawn in terms of QoS.
BTW 1 mbps @999 is not very bad seeing the present BSNL plans but was hoping at least 2mbps though. But they are doing gross injustice by giving such low speeds on fiber.:ac:

@devx101What I meant was that the plan would on lines of mtnls meaning that there would be no fup, what I forgot to mention was that the speed would be 2mbps. @madhusudhan7 Earlier, out here myway was providing Iptv on copper. However they seem to have disappeared now that ftth has been launched.
