Hey , i updated my plan of bsnl ftth from the 849 one to 999 one "fibre premium" ,the plan advertises to give a speed upto 200 mbps and 3300 gb, it has been almost 14 says but i am still receiving the old plan's speed that is 100 mbps to be more precise 95 Mbps in the speed test.
What could be the problem? Is there any specific settings that has to be changed in the modem page?
(I am from maharashtra so the rates of the plan may vary according to your circle).
Also My local vendor gave me Syrotech GPON-1110-WDONT , on the manual that i got on their website it says it has 2 lan ports of 10/100/1000Mbps, 100Mbps. . Tried on both but the result is still the same, 94-95 mbps is what i am getting . I have no idea about the router the vendor just gave me this also i only use this on my computer no WiFi or anything. The box doesn't specify what type of cable it is but as far as i know it's cat 5.

Does the port on your computer support gigabit? If yes, use a different cable (Cat5e or higher) to check. Also, gigabit port is almost always port 2 on these ONTs.

My computer uses Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller as far as i have searched it does support, also i tried connecting it to my laptop too which i have bought few months back. In the settings tab of Ethernet, the speed in both the ports is ,100mbps, i tried connecting it to both the ports but again as i said in both the ports it shows the speed as 100mbps rather than 1gbps.

Then it's the cable. Use a Cat5e or higher cable and the problem will be solved. Cat5 does only 100 Mbps.

I'll mostly order one today itself thank you but i have a doubt, irrespective of the cable shouldn't in the adapter setting the port 2 (having 1gbps) should show the speed as 1gbps?

No, cables are rated according to the speed they can do at max up to a certain distance. Since Cat5 does only 100 Mbps, the adapters auto negotiate to accept only 100 Mbps.

Hey, i digged in a bit , saw a video on YouTube about my ont the same one, in that video he said the cable provided is a cat6 cable. I am using the same which is provided with the modem itself, but the box doesn't specify it what type of cable is is.

@Ashwat22100
1) You sure that the BSNL guys have changed your plan because some places don't have automated plan changes and a BSNL employee has to physically change your plan in their systems, can you see your updated plan name in the selfcare portal?
2)Most of the time it is mentioned on the cat cable itself the category it is, does it say anything on your cable?
3)If you are sure that your cable is 5e or above and your plan has changed then also check that your speed & Duplex setting under the advanced tab in your ethernet adapter properties is set to auto-negotiate.

Hey,
1) yes it is reflected in my portal, also i received the new bill where the amount was of the new plan(which shouldn't be the case because this bill is of march, in March i was still using the old plan and i should have got the old amount but anyways that's a different topic) . I got the Hotstar premium too.
2) the entire cable is blank, it is in yellow colour and has absolutely nothing written over it nor on the connectors checked for the same twice or thrice.
