BSNL FTTH ups missing battery

Open it up. I just cracked open one and there is no batteries inside. The crooked staffs at BSNL sell the batteries to outside vendors for money. Open yours and check if there is any battery inside.

created this thread so other BSNL user googling about missing/stolen UPS batteries can find it easily.

It is a real UPS, but a faulty one. Even mine hasn't worked for the past 2 years.

this looks like a very elaborate scam of completely stealing batteries or replacing them with old non working ones.

In its defence, such batteries doesn't last forever and would die right. The batteries would need to be replaced from time to time.

yeah but that doesn't explain why battery wires were not connected and after connecting battery was not even working.

Mine does have a battery but they are not connected to the UPS. I followed the user manual for instructions to connect the battery to UPS but still it does not provide backup.

If I remember well, it was mentioned in the instructions that the wires are meant to be disconnected. It is supposed to be connected by customers.

oh wow this is shipped with wires disconnected.

usually idle battery is not charged to prevent damage to it from remaining idle over long time.
