Please note this is only the ₹500 for account setup, which is aka installation charges.
All other charges are still applicable, namely ONT charges, fiber charges, franchisee LCO's own self-realised charges for installation/labour, and one month security deposit equivalent to one month's rental charge.
If you already have a fiber connection from your LCO, from another ISP or something that allows your own personal ONT, and if he can use/already uses the same fiber for BSNL FTTH as well, only then would you really benefit.
The security deposit needn't be paid upfront. It comes in the first bill after the first month.
So in this case total cost would be one month bill + security deposit, that's it? What does BSNL do about customers that pay for one month and then forget that they got a new connection for a (very) long time?
BSNL leaves your connection suspended till you pay the one month’s bill. Idk about any reactivation charges or penalties. Either way they don’t lose any since your one month security suffices for that monthly bill amount mostly.
