Welcome to world of BSNL/MTNL The CDMA model that MTNL gave me earlier had a huge round cell. So once that cell was dead (after 2yrs), they didnt have any replacement cell.So what they did? They asked me to buy new phone! Luckily this new phone has pencils cells, so atleast now I dont have to worry.

PHone should run without any batteries as long as its connected to bsnl wire

it works yes. but i do not usually keep my lights on. so needed that display to show the number i am dialing and the number calling me considering my plan has 250 free calls (no idea about local or std or bsnl only though ). i plan to use it instead of mobile.now i have no idea how to set the date and time on the phone. have been spoiled by the user interfaces on smartphones. it would be painful to set the time/date correct on the phone

Clarification: I was talking abt MTNL CDMA. MTNL landline that I have works without batteries (since like 1990s)

It took me 30 minutes to configure the Time on that phone

i gave up after 10 mins fiddling with phone. setting time for alarm will take you all night.
