Today, when I internet connection got reconnected automatically, when I clicked on a webpage link, it redirected me to BSNL Motive Page, which has New Avatar now.

The page title is now called as "BBNW Circle, BSNL" and heading is "BSNL Essential Downloads" and has some new hyperlinks for download:

- Click here to download the CPE Firmware Upgrade Application New!
- Click here to download the BSNL SELF CARE Software New!
- Customers using Teracom CPEs click here (You may do this activity only once)
- Click here to download the User Guide

I downloaded the User Guide and noted the following key features of Downloader application:

- Detects the type of Modem installed (UTStarcom, Nokia-siemens and ZTE)
- Downloads the appropriate Application for upgrading the Firmwares
- Downloads the BSNL Self Support Application from the BSNL server and initiates the Startup Wizard for the activation process (Supported in UTStarcom Modems only)
- Small Footprint application – less time to download
- Works with Windows XP and Vista
- Negligible Downtime of Broadband services
- No action taken on non Multiplay Modems

Note the last point "No action taken on non Multiplay Modems". It looks like this software is mandatory for Multiplay Network (ip starting 117.192.x.x).

Has anyone installed the new software and faced any problems? What is the CPE firmware version we should have? Is it really worth installing these on Windows 7?

UPDATE: After typing all above text, when I clicked Submit Thread, I was shown the face of New Avatar again. My connection got reset automatically :( I am tired of this Reset bug, it doesn't have any pattern/period, but just keeps resetting now and then.

Dude, I have realized that PPPOE Mode is the culprit. My connection was doing the same .I just did a reset of the modem and all came back perfectly.

Do you mean that we need to use Brigded mode? I guess PPPOE is recommended and default mode. Unless you are hooking up a external Router to your modem.Did you use the Modem Admin page to reset to factory?

I am also having the same issue with my BSNL connection,If the system is idle for 1 or 2 mins , It loses the internetconnection , I Have to restart the DNS service to connect to internet again..But motive.bsnl.co.in conects without any issues, I have even reimaged my machine ...This problem started after the new page Motive.bsnl.co.in site.

i tried to download the cpe firmware upgrade application,my computer crashed.even i complained to 198 many a time ,there was no fixing of the problem, even modem was replaced two times, error message "678" was displayed, even if bb connection was established there were more than 8-10 breaks in an hour.subsequently i could neither use bb nor computer.bsnl people could not fix the problem.computer was to be formatted to make use of it and bb.could you please guide me in the matter?

1. Reset your modem to factory settings and try reconfiguring.2. Mention modem - model and make3. Try system restore to a previous date.4. Better stay away from the self care software.

Motive software changes your setting to "Always On" PPP/PPPoE mode Mention your modem make/model/number. heck "sticky" thread WA3002-G4 quick reference in BSNL forum for details of more than 18 units. As advised RESET to factory settings and redo settings. The RESET access point may be in rear or bottom right of unit ( a small round hole)Use a ball pen refill and press for about 20 to 30 seconds ( with power On ) Or if you can access modem menu pages try in Management or tools option. Also uncheck tr_069 client Box. Try GDMT. report snr attn data. ( see under Statistics adsl menu item )feedback.
