In Lucknow those having P2 connections and in the areas coming under GSP Exchange like our Eldeco Colony on Raibareily Road are being shifted to a P3 server due to frequent cable faults in connection to the P2 server. What the "sob" SDO of the GSP Exch states is that he is providing first aid to subscribers like me who had been complaining of broadband disconnection for 7 full days due to frequent cable getting cut; this time it was at Charbagh, then VIP Road, and then right under the nose of the GSP exchange itself. Our connection too was shifted to a P3 server on the night of last Saturday, April 10, 2010, which I believe is a notorious shit server originating from Chandigarh while P2 originates from Bangalore. There has been no change in the external modem/router originally provided by BSNL. I am yet using the Huwaei Type II modem purchased from BSNL while taking broadband connection in November 2006. However, now whenever I start my Firefox 3.6 browser I am always redirected to OpenDNS where I am asked to download a Self Care Software meant for UTStarcom, Nokia Siemens, and ZTE Modems. Though on my firefox browser this site OpenDNS has been blocked, it yet tries to redirect the browser home page to it and thereby the browser freezes until I click at the home page on the Menu Bar. I think that the P3 broadband connection searches in my computer for the Self Care Software and on not finding the same it attempts to redirect my browser to the same. What am I to do as I have been told by the SDO of GSP exchange that the said software is not for my modem/router?
Now my IP address starts with 117 while earlier it started with 59. However, this transfer has not ended my woes with BSNL's wireline broadband. I find the P3 connection to be always hiccuping and becoming dead quite often with the ADSL light on the modem going off every now and then. I work from home as a medical transcriber and you could understand my predicament while on an online platform or searching on the net.
Earlier I could see my online usage but not now.
There is also some problem with checking your telephone bill online which I have not been able to do for some months now. Whenever I go to make payments at the BSNL telephone exchange at G Block LDA or Dilkusha I come back holding only the receipt as the duplicate bill is not given because their printers are nonfunctional. I rarely get the bill by post. If I attempt to check any pending bills at 1500, I find that they yet to want me to pay for February and March 2010 bills when the same has been paid and I hold the receipts. They had been talking of some software upgrade for the last six months and there seems to be some goofup.
TATA and Sify are worse services while AirTel is not available in Eldeco Colony where I live. Taking one of those fancy pendrive wireless broadbands of Reliance or TATA or now Virgin are beyond my means when works out the cost and benefit of such connections towards earnings.
When I asked the SDO to put me back to the P2 server once the cable faults are repaired, his reply was that it would not be possible as it takes up to 30 minutes for each connection to be physically transferred from one server to another at the exchange. And that all new connections are via the so called P3 server. What to do? Publish this crap of BSNL in the TOI, Lucknow edition? Or file a complaint in the Consumers Court? I have no idea as to what their NIB is really upto. Please help.:wall:
