We recently got a new house, and the finishing work was done when I was away. I came back a few days back to realise that the idiotic electrician didn't bother to lay Coaxial cable in two out of four rooms. Thankfully, he laid Cat5 to these rooms, and again thankfully we have a a junction box where Coaxial and Cat5 cables come from all rooms.Yesterday, I just joined one twisted pair to the Coax at the junction box.I get super clear picture for the first few channels, and nothing but crap on higher channels. I heard that Cat5 has very high loss at higher frequencies. I've also head that there are hardware like Baluns etc that transmit Coax signal in another format compatible with CAT5 and then is converted back to Coax signal at receiving end.I'd like to know if somebody has already tried this and if yes, how, and where do I get the necessary hardware.I'd also like to know if amplifying the signal at the junction would help if getting better signal thru CAT5. Thanks for your patience and your advice!!
