BSES discoms trying to blackmail Delhi govt : Kejriwal
Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday accused BSES discoms of trying to "blackmail" the government by threatening power cuts upto 10 hours a day, and warned them of strict action including possible cancellation of licenses. "They are not cooperating in CAG audit, which raises further suspicion. The government will not keep quite. The government will not hesitate in cancelling their licences," he said while assuring the people that there was no possibility of power cuts.
BSES Yamuna Power Ltd has informed Delhi Government that areas in Central and East Delhi may face eight to 10 hours of power cuts from tomorrow as the company was facing serious fund crunch to buy electricity.In a letter to Delhi's Power Secretary Puneet Goel, BYPL sought immediate financial assistance from the government to deal with the "difficult" situation as it was not being able to make payments to various state-run power generators including NTPC and NHPC.

Anyways, this didn't help much as discoms are raising surcharge from tomorrow. So increased power tarriff anyway. Also personally I am not happy. Just faced another 3 hour powercut in the noon.
 
Kya drama hai. I mean this is how things will run now? Kejriwal threatens companies, they threaten him back. Power tarriff gets raised anyway. Tommorow kejriwal will disrupt and do something drastic. Result won't come. End me common man will continue facing problems.
The discount in power tarriff hasn't even started showing and now this. And it won't help much by the time summers are here. So if you ask me, all this is a sham. And once congress will pull the plug, back to square one. Kejriwal ji, please deal in a decent manner. Aapke dharne aur dhamkiyon se mere ghar ki bijli ni sudhar rahi. :(

Tariffs of the BSES Yamuna, NDPL and BSES Rajdhani were hiked by 8%, 7% and 6%, respectively, news agency PTI reported.

AAP's statement
Delhi government has learnt from media reports that the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) has announced a hike in the electricity tariffs in the city from February 1.
The government condemns the DERC decision and finds it completely uncalled for, since an audit by the Comptroller and Auditor General (C&AG) into the accounts of private distribution companies is already under progress.The government is of the clear view that the DERC should have waited for the audit report of the C&AG and there was no need of showing a tearing hurry to impose this unnecessary burden on the people.
There are a lot of questions about the functioning of private power distribution companies and the government is committed to get to the root of this problem.The government is taken aback by this sudden decision, which is beyond any reasonable understanding.

Sometimes I wonder whether a CM has any power or not?
Also he learnt about the hike from media. So it means DERC can increase the price without informing the CM? Nice.
