with ubiquiti I have been trying to login to sfp/ onu but nothing works.

U need to set up an iptables nat rule to access the GPON admin via udm

Login to ssh using Putty or Terminal
username: admin
password: (enter password here)

First find the WAN interface in ssh by passing below command:

ip a

For UXG-MAX, WAN PORT 5 is eth4. You can verify by checking MAC address of eth4 and compare that to the above ssh output to know which interface your stick connected to. Change eth4 or eth3 to whatever your WAN interface is on which stick or ONU is connected to.

To Access ONU1 which is in bridge mode connected to WAN PORT 5 (IP 192.168.0.1)

ip addr add dev eth4 local 192.168.0.2/24

iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o eth4 -d 192.168.0.0/24 -j SNAT --to 192.168.0.2

To Access ONU2 which is in bridge mode connected to WAN PORT 4 (IP 192.168.2.1)

ip addr add dev eth3 local 192.168.2.2/24

iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o eth3 -d 192.168.2.0/24 -j SNAT --to 192.168.2.2

FYI this doesn't survive UDM reboot. I am still finding more info on making these changes permanent.
