Can laptop sata drives work in desktop

As title says can lappy sata hdd work in the desktop sata cable with desktop sata power cable in a desktop?

is this too tough to answer?i am asking if a sata laptop drive work in desktop using cables of 3.5 desktop sata hdd?

well i have seen laptop hard disks but never checked the connectors. they should be same. check on wikipedia! or just hunt for details for your model number?

i have read many forum , it says it is compatible AS ISso its worth a try but also scared bcz one forum said that desktop hdds use 12 volts and laptop hdds use 5 volts !

Connecting 2.5" SATA Disk to Desktop Internal SATA - Hard-Disks - Storage i guess it is not recommended or safe.

mac mini uses laptop components but it is a specifically designed box. so it works in a different manner i guess.

If you are not sure then better not risk it. But you could put it in a 2.5" external casing & then use it safely on your desktop.

^^ rite .. no point to experiment... if this was possible the whole world would have dumped 3.5 and industry standard would have been 2.5 inches and all cabinets whould have been more slimer !
