So I’m getting my fiber installed tomorrow for 1500rs. I didn’t opt for the stb which costs 1000 more because i already have a cable connection and netflix, Amazon prime is already available in my TV.
Now I question is should i take the set top box too?
Does it have free channels for watching news and movies? or do i have to buy the subscription for that?
I was thinking of cutting my cable connection if the stb provides some sports, news channels.
I’m getting the 699 plan.
Also do they provide a dual band router? What’s their router maximum speed?

@aayush31 - Yup, obviously, which is why when it comes to channel count these apps in no way compare to the sheer range of the cable/DTH operator's offerings. "you will get to watch almost each and every channel" and "enjoy all channels" are misleading IMO. Better to provide an accurate picture.

Yes. Haven't seen a compiled channel list yet anywhere but may have missed it. I guess you can always look at websites of individual OTT apps and see what they offer.
Okay thanks for clearing the confusion

Live TV section doesn't work yet. Just a message that it may work in future in collaboration with LCOs, but no idea how Jio plans to implement it. Perhaps just a way to attach the cable and combine what the cable op provides into the same STB that has OTT apps.

Live TV channels list on these OTT apps keep on changing on daily basis. Many others are present on JioTv+ app. Yes not all live channels are provided by them but the ones which they are offering seems enough for a person because no one watch those hefty 600+ live channels that a cable/DTH operator provides.

Do they provide these channels through Hotstar, zee5 and other OTT apps? or like is it available differently on the live tv section
You can watch the channels through dedicated OTT app
OR
JioTv+ app
OR
Play with your remote by simply pressing the mic button and speak out the channel name or content that you want to watch.

You should watch this for clear picture 👇

P.S. - Everyone has their own choices. But I ditched my Tata Sky and Broadband connection (Excitel) and took JioFiber way back in October last year. I never regretted till date. I am a happy customer.
I got an old CRTv, that has turned into a Smart Tv with this revolution by Jio.

I would be happier if some OTT app provides all the English channels I'm missing. Also if higher JioFiber plans provided Hotstar Premium at least instead of VIP. Other stuff like content from HBO Max, Hulu etc. (besides downloading obviously) one can probably legally access on the TV via JioPages and VPN, but not tried yet.

Not all of them obviously, but it can perhaps make or break the decision to cut the cord if any of those channels people really like to watch are not there among the limited ones available via the OTT apps.

3 things -
1. There are some movies/shows/live events that won't be available on live channel in OTT app/JioTV+ because of license issues. eg- CPL isn't available on Star sports channel in Hotstar but you can watch it on regular/satellite tv. Same goes for many English movies.
2. You definitely won't find all the channels that are available in cable/satellite tv. But you will have the option to watch old episodes/movies as per your schedule. Personally, i am able to watch all the channels that i need, online.
3. IMO if you have multiple TVs/smart TVs then you can opt for Jio STB and keep your satellite stb as well with minimum payment of ₹150 or recharge it only when needed. It will be helpful in cases where a certain live event isn't available online because then you will have the option to recharge and watch it. In the end, JioFiber with STB will be cheaper(if you have multiple smart TVs) as compared to having multiple Satellite/cable connections.

Their library of apps are increasing, they got just Hotstar when I took it in December last year. Since then they have added many other Premium OTT Apps. They will probably add more apps in the future as the connections and demand grows.

Does anyone have a list of all the channels available or at least a list of all the OTT apps which are being bundled? Nothing on their website other than "11 ott apps".
