can't access modem software through ethernet

hi, i took dataone connection recently.mine is type 1 ut300r2u adsl2+modem.the problem is i couldn't connect through ethernet.adapter seems no problem.mine is onboard nvidia gigabit ethernet.i tried pinging.the result is request timed out.i couldn't access web based modem software.i am now using usb port.but connection is not stable...any help is greatly appreciated...please help...

Did you try accessing the modem when connected via USB port. ? 198.162.1.1 ID : admin password: admin or utstar or password ? You should not connect the USB port and Rj45 ethernet cable from the modem to the same computer. Programming instructions in UT-300R2U ADSL MODEM MENU 2. Please check your ethernet card in start/control Panel/ system/Hardware/Device Manager. network adapters. or Start/Control Panel/ Network connections/ LAN connection.

give your pc ip as 192.168.1.2 mask 255.255.255.0 default gateway 192.168.1.1 dns as given by ISP ...(61.1.96.69 and 61.1.96.71 if BSNL.)

now in browser type 192.168.1.1 admin , admin as username and password
