cant forward port on belkin n150 wirless router/modem

i recently bought a new router/modem Belkin N150 Wireless Router F9K1001 as my old modem stopped working.the problem is i cant seem to forward any port.i play a lot of online games so i need my port forwarded.i have called belkin tech support and i have tried all their suggestions none of them worked.they are willing to replace my modem with a new one.but i want to know if there is anything else i can try and even if i replace it will i be able to forward the ports?

This worked for me.

Update the firmware from here. This is for F9J1001 which is equivalent to F9K1001
Belkin : Support F9J1001 N150 Wireless Modem Router - Firmware

Turn-off uPNP.
Remove all port-forwarding entries and configure again.
