one of my friends is using hathway connection , the problem is the settop box creates a strong magnetic field or may be some other type of interference..thers is a hum noise from Sony system and display problem on the lcd when the set top box is plugged with cable wire , have to unplug it for lcd when tv is not in use...and when using tv the hum noise is always on...anyone else experienced it..tried to put the set top box away from comp and system as far as possible but no solution...what is the problem here and any solution...

Can you please check it out with a regular TV and find out whether its having the same issue? ideally this should not happen and I assume that this is due to a faulty/low class STB. This can also occur when you are not using a proper 3 pin plug, if provided with the STB.

Hathway STB doesn't have three pin configuration.Humming is caused by many ways but the simplest way may be due to some internal hardware malfunctioning of STB, so it's better to get it checked by CABLE WAALE BHAIYA

It's probably got to do with grounding. I have the same problem. If I connect my computer speakers to the TV and the computer (it has two inputs), I get some major hum. But removing the cable wire (this was before CAS) got rid of the hum. That's what I suspect that grounding is the problem, but I don't know if there is any solution. Please do post if and when you find the solution.
