Hi all,
I have installed compact CCTV cameras at strategic points across the house on my own. The cameras are from JMK brand with cost less than Rs600. Some extra wiring cost may come depending on the lengths used. But private security companies charge more than Rs7000 for installation...So see the difference.
Website of JMK, a Hong Kong based security and CCTV camera company (Remove spaces in the URL): h t t p://w w w.jmk.hk/

These cameras have direct AV (Audio-Video) Out which can be given to our existing CRT or LCD television screens or DVR, Computer, Laptop with TV Tuners, or Video Input etc. There is a choice of PAL or NTSC video output too.

The power consumption is 0.2W and the required power source is 9 Volts, 500mA. But I am using rechargeable Lithium-ion batteries charged by Solar panels, so do not have to worry even if power fails, I still have CCTV system working.
Video Output Resolution of PAL: 628 X 582 and NTSC: 510 X 492

No mention about storage of this Video for future reference, is that no part of setup?
(BTW Warthog would not like this thread :D)
(no more offtopic :|)

I have already mentioned in the image about DVR box connectivity. I do not have the need to store video footage since my need is to only check visitors at the door and car parking space.
For those who wanted CCTV footage screenshots. Here are they in untouched original 720 X 576 resolution (Click on the images below to view actual size).

Some people asked me how do we connect a 9 Volt battery. This is how a 9 Volt PP6 type battery can be connected.

I also got a 9.8 inch LCD TV/DVD/USB player with 1 year warranty and Indian service/support center. I am using this to make a mini display for the camera installed on the main door. But still I have the 21 inch Onida CRT TV as a monitor because this 9.8 inch TV has an AV Out which is connected to AV Input 2 of CRT TV.

I too am looking for a security camera setup that has some hard disk storage.
Get a DVR (Digital Video Recorder) box too with hard disk storage space and connect it to AV Out of this camera.

Tested everything works fine. Here is how the 9.8 inch TV / CCTV Monitor AV is wired to the camera as well as a Satellite Receiver. All of them (TV, STB and Camera) have power inverter backup.

totally vfm.how much did the dvr cost you and how many days backup it has?
The Satellite Receiver-DVR is actually 2 years old. I had purchased it for Rs2400. It writes in MPEG2-TS (.ts file format) to the pluggable media like FAT filesystem pen-drive / hard disk upto 500GB.
The recordings work on any computer or DVD player elsewhere. They open up in Windows Media Player, VLC player or any other that reads MPEG2 stream video files.
1 minute of MPEG2 recording takes up approx 3MB of disk space...4320MB for a days [24 hours] continuous recording. So you can calculate the backup as per the disk storage capacity.
Limit is 500GB and filesystem should be FAT16 or FAT32. NTFS or 1 TB drives will not work.

I too have these JMK cameras and i must say as per my experience goes they are great VFM. Have been using these cam for more than 3-4 years and till now only 1 out of 7 bought got damaged... got these cam from palika bazaar new delhi at a price of Rs.400-450 (3 years ago)

An update for interested buddies.
recently, someone jumped into my house, he was not able to enter my residential structure, but managed to get into Garage attached store room which has lots of junk and rejected items from house.
he took away a Old fan, a few small electrical appliance and couple of more spares, from what I can detect.
as it was more of a DUMP room, its hard to jot down the actual loss.
This happened day before yesterday, just before dawn, and I came back from garage itself 5-6 minutes before he might have gone in, Could have caught him if I stopped for another FAG.
anyway cutting long story short, I am going to install a DVR + 3 camera's initially on a 8 channel DVR.
Luckily a friend is distributor for 3 prominent DVR Brands and wants me to sell them online/offlineas he loves the Idea of online selling but hates the percentage of cost involved in online sales.
So we were already in talks for DVR pricing etc for a week, and I managed first customer (a friend's shop) but this incident has made me become the first customer of I, Me, Myself :-)
I am installing Budget DVR from Maximus
Model : MD088F-V
which is 8 Ch. H.264 Full D1 Realtime DVR, capable of 2 SATA + PTZ + ALARM+HDMI

and one bulllet camera + 2 dome cameras,All 3 cams are 600TVL + IR and everything is from Maximus+ 5A power supply as I would not like to run wires from one place to another just for power, I would use power for any future cam separately.
I am amazed with profits, these small so-called-DVR experts in town are making even on those unknown chinese DVR+CAM they install in most cases.
What i've managed is cheaper than MRP of those idiot installed DVR's and comes with proper warranty and bill.
PM me if someone needs price for this DVR or cam Alone, but it cannot be shipped to you in that pricing as it would attract more VAT under x-u.p. terms and shipping + blah blah blah
As I would install this DVR on my own, I would post lots of Installation pics and details in coming week itself.

^^ Great plan, waiting for installation pics..
I'll be very much interested in similar setup.
BTW, wouldn't it be better if you post pricing here only?
