Well, I have been ranting about how desperately I want to buy the new Google Nexus 4 :D
So this thread!

I want to know if its proper to get the phone from abroad? I have my confusion about international warranty and I do not want to get into the hassle of shelling out money if something goes wrong with the phone in the first year itself. Its not probable but I wouldn't want to take any chances.

I am highly doubtful about the timing of the launch and its price. I am unable to post a question on LG India's official Facebook page too.

Found this on xDA: Confirmed: No international warranty for Nexus 4 or Nexus 10 - xda-developers

Suggestions please.

Hahaha. Yes. That was on my mind. But given the price at which the phone is available on the Play Store, I am sure that it won't be available at the exchange rate equivalent here, at the time of launch.

Wait for official launch and then decide… whether Indian price is worth for warranty. If yes, get it. If not get an imported unit.

Well, the thing is no1 is going to sell it at the price google is selling it. even tmobile is selling it at almost double the price in US and i am pretty sure same will be the case in India (if it ever gets launched). so you have to decide for how much money you are willing to give up on warranty

i have said it numerous times. 300/350 dollar pricing is for usa because google can recover money through media renting/selling. even if the model is priced competitively against models like S3/Note, it is a much safer buy because of stock android. i do not get it... why people expect it to be sold for 20-25K.someone on this forum bought an imported unit for 26K. i mean i do not see the point when official version should not be priced that high.

So I cannot get international warranty done on the imported unit by paying some money? Just like we pay some amount to get an extended warranty done on appliances.

:\just handle it carefully and it would be fine. i face no issues on nexus one, nexus s and Galaxy nexus. the only device i had issues with was one x which i purchased locally. all nexus units were purchased from usa without warranty. it all depends upon luck. and if your luck is bad, the things that would go bad would not be covered under warranty :)
