And so I am ported on to Vodafone now. Form submitted on Sunday evening, number activated a short while back. Hassle free experience again. Even more compared to the last time I ported as this time Aircel (my previous operator) didn't even bother calling me up to check why or where I was moving to. Guess they are too engrossed in getting Dhoni to win the current England series :D

Overall, feeling good about being back on Vodafone. I was on VF since the days of Hutch - albeit in a different circle, so its a sort of homecoming for me :D

Another point - in both my cases of porting, I didn't pay a single paisa during the porting request. Neither the 19 bucks porting fee, nor for any starter pack. I wonder if I just got lucky or this is a deliberate move by these operators to encourage people to port.

Haha. Honestly, prepaid sucks IMO. I have only opted for it because of the cheaper tariffs as opposed to postpaid. Otherwise I don't really like the hassle of having to recharge frequently, and getting the right offers at the right time since that is a lot of overhead to me.

i have been happy with prepaid on airtel. i do not trust them enough to switch to postpaid. i have been happy with postpaid on tata indicom for a long time now. even though i end up paying the rental amount only. but then my usage is so freaking low that it does not even matter what kind of a connection i am subscribed to!
