Cloudflare has launched their object storage platform compatible with Amazon S3 api. This is going to disrupt the industry.

Honestly, if XenForo adds support for WebP in a future build and someone releases an addon for automatic conversion to WebP, I might consider opening up uploads again for all users. My only issue is people uploading screenshots of pings, tracerts, cloudinfo which can be pasted as text. Some folks would post screenshots of speedtests which is crazy as they provide a URL and embed code both. And of course screenshots from phones that are saved in PNG formats which can be quite big. WebP conversion would fix a lot of file size problems.

so rclone beta release does has the fixes for r2. i can upload stuff to it now.

curl https://rclone.org/install.sh | sudo bash -s beta

but i guess i cannot really use it with xenforo till they support public buckets.
 
switched to r2 just now. it's not direct replacement for s3 on xenforo but seems to work.
