I am hoping you might be able to point me in the right direction --
My parents live in Alaknanda and I am trying to set up a broadband connection in their apartment before I get there. I need a fairly fast connection (10Mbps) with low latency times (50ms?). I want to be able to set up the service for my parents to be able to use their ipads to play scrabble and facetime with us. Once I set it up (wifi router) I want the service to work with NO FURTHER INTERVENTION.
I'd be willing to sacrifice some speed for reliability and pay a premium for the reliability.
1. What providers would you recommend?
2. I am unfamiliar with some of the jargon and would like some clarification, if possible:
Is broadband in India offered through an existing phone line ? dedicated Cat5/6? Coaxial RG5/6 cable? Fiberoptic T1 line?
3. Does the provider install the line coming into the apartment and provide the gear (modem router)?4. Do they sell you the modem and router or do they rent it?5. Obviously the modem is dependent on the cable coming in - so does a particular provider offer all these different options.
I noticed airtel has something called fiber net? any thoughts on how well they support their product?
Thank you for any help!
