Hi, I am from Kolkata.
Right now, I am using AKD Broadband, a smaller ISP with around 1,500 customers.
My LCO also provides services for Alliance, Wishnet, GTPL, KCBPL, AKD, SSWL, and Indinet.
The LCO switches ISPs based on his convenience or commission structure.
Since this morning, the internet has been down, but there was no fiber cut.
My neighbor, who also uses the same LCO connection with Wishnet and GTPL KCBPL, also lost connection. Now, I hear that all customers under this LCO's network are down.
I visited the LCO’s house, which is about 100 meters from my place. He is using a Netlink OLT with a 1:64 EPON configuration. The OLT is not working, and the SFP module cannot be detached due to prolonged lack of maintenance and heat. The OLT is placed on a wooden table without a server rack or cooling system.
The ISP refuses to take any responsibility, saying they provide the connection to the LCO, and their end is fine. They told me to talk to the LCO, as they cannot do anything. About 20 users are affected and the network is down. My 90-day plan may go to waste because the LCO can't give a timeline for when a new OLT will be arranged. He also mentioned that the OLT was provided by an ISP as part of a contract, but they won’t configure it for other ISP VLANs or settings.
Initially, the LCO purchased it from an ISP based on an agreement, and then he arranged for a third-party engineer to configure the network for other ISPs.
The main issue is that we can't apply pressure on him because he is connected to the ruling party's local member here in West Bengal.
Should i move other airfiber? because lco will not entertain jio fiber cable.. any no other isp in my area.
