FIR should be filed by the ISP against the guy who has been stealing their property. Though it might not be good idea for anyone involved.

For the time being I have put back the box in the same place, after discussion with committee membere the decision wld be taken. Btw any idea how much power would this 8 port switch (TP-Link) consume in terms of cost if its on 24 hours a day?? I can pay the additional amount to the society if that is an option.

I would suggest to go peaceful and look for alternative because going harsh will again add rift. Maharashtra acts are bullying towards flat owners and they had over powered society. Better raise this issue is society meet. If you go though situation may become worse. In extreme cases society will be dissolved and registrar office will take the handover which will be like president rule and no development. It's better to start your fight on paper and demand reply in written so that you may prepare a good case for you.

Sometimes I feel ADSL is the best option to escape from this mess. It requires no external power and is always ON, even when there's a power-cut.
I agree with Sushubh. The ISP should file an FIR for theft.

Thats what annoying the most, every time I am the only one he has issues with. All these years when other members were using it never he objected. Now he started having problems. Will wait for what the committee decides and go accordingly.

Even 24x7 usage wont cross 1 unit. Best thing is to ask an electrician to plug in a wattmeter and show reading to society members.

Okay, so today morning I got a notice from the society saying that I was using the society power illegaly for all these years and would have to pay Rs.2000 per year for usage which comes to Rs.10,000 for five years. (others were using it too all these years) Which definitely I wont be paying. Have to reply to the notice though. I am being told that the service provider installed the box without permission. I am not aware of it as when I took the connection the box was already there I just had to plug a wire in it.Now I want to know laws would be same from all societies right? I read the link posted in this thread there was nothing mentioned relating to my problem. Also there is another equiment on the terrace for cable tv which again uses society power supply. I am for the last many years am using Airtel digtal Tv, which I use on my own power supply, so can I object to that saying "Even I want refund of the amount paid against electricity charges consumed by that cable box as I was not using cable for all these years?"This issue is getting on my nerves now. I want to give a strong reply to everyone as I don't see my fault in it.
