Comic Sans creator talks about the need for the font

Comic Sans was designed because when I was working at Microsoft I received a beta version of Microsoft Bob. It was a comic software package that had a dog called Rover at the beginning and he had a balloon with messages using Times New Roman. There was no intention to include the font in other applications other than those designed for children when I designed Comic Sans.

Comic Sans was also the default font in Microsoft Comic Chat app which I loved back in early 2000s
You actually chatted in chatrooms like comic strips.

Saw the link and remembered. Haha, the memories. Used it a couple of times on my uncle's PC. Was fun. Those were the days.

It was so ahead of its time. So was Microsoft Bob really.
I do not dislike Comic Sans it is a brilliant font for certain uses. I used it a lot back in the days though no longer

True. Don't remember Bob because never had PC at home in those days. But I guess Microsoft Office Assistant definitely was inspired from it. Those were the days of real innovation. Nowdays its more of throwing patent lawsuits over each other.
And Comic Sans I am sure everyone of us used it at some point of our lives. It was my second most used font in those days after Times New Roman.

Seriously hated Times New Roman. Thankfully it was dumped in O2K7.

times new roman, arial are the stocks used till date for most of the CVS , research papers, and such documents did you know that, I talk from first hand and second and third hand perspective..
