Hi All,

I have already read similar posts but it didn't work for me.

I have a new Netgear WGR614 wirless router.
We use a Cable internet connection which normally requires us to login by entering a username and password on a web client (browser based). That means the browser window has to be kept open at all times to use the internet.

Our connection has a static IP and we wanted to share this across the house.

We have successfuly installed the netgear router and are able to open http://192.168.1.1 to login to the router. However, cannot use the internet.
Here's the problem:
PPPoE was detected by Netgear but the username password never worked. We manually entered this through the router 192.168.1.1 and also added the static IP with DNS and gateway details. Yet it doesnt work...page cannot be displayed for everything!

Two questions here:
1. How do i make this work? I believe we are not able to access the internet because of the 24online client login. Maybe the PPPoE login doesn't work here.
2. Are there any other IP settings to be done with the LAN connection now? Earlier we had static IP written for the lan settings...but now we removed them.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. :isorry:

Dear Ankur,I am also having the same problem. PPPoE just doesn't work. However, one workaround is setting up as the simple static IP.But in this case, you'll get the login screen in your PC and you have to keep the browser open. PPPoE authentication is not working. Please tell me if you have already found any solution to this problem.

Presume you get only a rj45 cable to connect to your computer.
Then log in ID/PW in browser and get connected.
Try this.
In WGR614 select No for ID/pw
( Usually when an adsl modem is used in PPPoE mode same option is selected.)

rest of the entries select automatically obtain values.
In lan page give a value say 192.168.1.1 to access settings later
Now connect rj45 to wgr614 WAn port.
another rj45 from lan 1 to computer.
Log in as usual.
feedback whether Internet connected.
If OK
Wifi mode also may work. feedback.

Yes, I get a RJ-45 cable to connect to the computer, which in this case I am connecting to my Belkin SURF Wi-Fi Router.I have cloned the MAC address of my PC to the Router since my ISP authenticates the MAC also.My ISP had provided a static IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS servers to be put to my PC which I have put in the router and selected connection type as static. Now, whenever I have to use internet, the 24online web based client opens up with a username and password. I have to log in with my username and password and keep the browser window open. Now, what I am looking for, is a way to configure the username and password in the router itself so that I do not have to enter it in my PC.The manual for the 24online software says that it has PPPoE, but I'm not sure whether my service provider has it enabled or not... How can I check it?
