hey guys,
m havin a weird problem with my mtnl connection for last 6 months ,whenever somebody uses my doorbell or if somebody switches on the fan i lose my connection
WTF is this & nowadays my modem shows not connected in its status eventhough i am connected

i faced same problem earlier but now very rarely. earlier my SNR margin was low...so whenever (electrical noise) disturbance occurs DSL light wud start blinking.

i used to face similar problem when i was on dialup... line wud disconnect no sooner some1 switched on fan or tubelight.

as per MTNL babu.. it was earthing problem. and as per electrician it was MTNL problem :D

do u hear "click" sound in phone when someone switches on fan?

if yes try to keep MTNL wire and electric wire at some distance from each other.

Amish is right, its your earthing. The solution is get a certified electrician who has industry experience (they will understand what your saying, others would not understand their elbow from their AH). Also get a h/w engineer to check the voltage between earth & neutral (they would understand this) that should prove if its your earthing. Avoid putting electrical wires tel wire in same casing 'patti'

UPS wont solve the problem... because UPS cant control disturbance in telephone line...which is main reason of disconnection.

Some UPS have a connection for a tel wire to filter out disturbance but I am not sure how good it is.

Is this a problem that has started recently? What about fluorescent lamps? Does it happen when you switch on a tubelight? There are multiple possibilities here.It could be a power line dip problem but that would be more if you turned on a higher power load. Even an incandescent bulb would have a higher inrush current than a fan or doorbell.More likely it is EMI/RFI. This interference can be transmitted wirelessly or through the power line itself. Yes, good earthing can reduce the effect of this. I hope you are using a good surge suppressor like Belkin or something. If you use it for your PC and peripherals, it will also provide some degree of suppression of line borne interference.
