Hi, sometimes, especially when the compu is working under a heavy load, there is a distinct noise from the CPU, of the fan speed having increased. This noise is really loud, and it almost seems like the whole thing might burst or something. If it was a small fluctuation, it would be alright, but like I said, sometimes it sounds like a vacuum cleaner. Is it normal, and does it happen to all?I am worried especially since now its summer, and I think it might be that the fan speed is increasing to cool the processor. I have a P4 3.0 GHz, 1 GB RAM (876 MB, shared with onboard graphics card). I am thinking maybe it would be better not to use the compu during the daytime.Any suggestions?Thanx.

Thanx.
me to having this problem.
my cpu fan starts making noise in heavy load
i have p4 2.8 GHz HT,1 GB ram

i went to the shop from where i bought my pc
he told me that its the processor which is overheating.
the heat sink and fan used is of low quality by intel.

so my advise is that keep always the cabinet cover open
and wipe the dust out of ur cpu fan

Its absolutely Normal.Dont worry. Go to BIOS and see what temp is ur CPU running. Also u can increase the temp at which ur fan goes to Highest speed, though i would recommend u keep it at default

How do I go to the BIOS to find the CPU temperature?I've heard that there are softwares that continually measure the temperature of parts of the CPU, do you know where to get such?

It is not only the processor's fan but infact all the fans in the CPU that speed up when the temperatures rise. Nothing to worry about so long as the the heat sink and the whole unit in general is free of dust.

it is very simple brother, i have same pc to ur, i reach this problem last month... i solve it on net..but not any trick does not work.. then im going computer shop...he change my fan..i have a big fan then old..or aab to pta bhi nhi chalta ki pc chal rha hai ki nhi..fan speed is normal....change ur fan to a big fan,, 300 -400 rs..

Getting big fan with higher rpm is a good option. Also there are other options like adding extra exhaust fans, applying heat sync, water coolent, etc.Check which one of it you could afford.
