I think only Indian media.India has not ratified wipo copyright treaty but mere ip address of p2p is not liable as many western courts have ruled that having the ip address as the only proof is not liable to be sued by MAFIAA aka MPAA and RIAA.

the majority time he enjoyed the internet was during world cup. the allegation is stupid , but considering its not , there were chances a loner guy like my cousin was living somewhere privately and being a bookie , if he gets caught , the isp is in trouble . something like that .

the matter is semi solved . based on what my cousin told me, the local isp guy is scared as hell. as legally he is screwed, and my cousin , even though being wrong, ISNT . because he is just a local isp , like a local cable wala . and without even checking my cousin's ID . or any paperwork . he provided him with an internet wire . my cousin got his laptop back . and even though the laptop confiscation was wrong . my cousin is choosing to ignore any further involvement. i dont know more details . will tell if i hear something .

hey members, i also need help regarding such issue... plz guide me.. i was the first secretary in my residencial society. the society is unregistered yet. i had created 2 email id's of society to communicate to owners. many owners residing outside the city limits n need to get awared regularly regarding happenings. now since january 16th, working is handed over to new body & i handed one id to new secretary & kept one id myself. mind it that new body was not an elected body & it has handed over between mutual understanding. now i still keep awaring the owners the facts. some wrong feeding was given by the new body, so i clarify them with evidence & facts. IS THAT A CRIME, OR A CYBER CRIME.. plz guide me.

actually the new body is reverting some major decisions taken by the previous body ( i.e. by us ) and due to this, the society is suffering some financial losses. i keep awaring these facts to the owners thru emails, mailed by the id of society which is created by me in the past when i was secretory. so they are claiming that what i am doing is a cybre crime or breaking of cyber laws.

is that so ?

no its not cyber crime.....cyber crime is more like some on hacking and steeling your data and stuff.......now if this new body had hacked in ur ac and stollen ur details and posted then it would have been cyber crime since you gave them the ID ur self its not a cyber crime.Now the part of giving wrong info u will need to get it sort it out with the local residents and if they wish to participate in the police complain it will help in ur police case other wise you will be standing alone at the police station which may or may not work. ( again its upto you and ur residents if they want police to come in )

Can you pls ask your cousin how exactly he uncapped the ISP, did he logged in or something similar, because you don't ask your ISP before changing your nic card, if you can change NIC without informing your ISP you can even change your MAC address.Please give details how exactly your cousin was doing it. @ funtoosh, that matter is almost over for now atleast.....@ sd1_rypNo its not cyber crime at all, as Anant said. Coz u r just passing on information that u know. And as appears from the facts u mentioned, u are just passing on Openly available info to the Owners, so theres no scope of it being called Crime.And the Society's id that u are using, i dont think it should have any repercussions. Coz u have the e-mail id & password, and the new body hasnt asked u to surrender it to u. If they have asked u, then they should have some evidence in that regard. And apart from evidence, their "Intention to safeguard the id" would be established, only if they change the password after u surrender.That clearly isnt evident from the facts u mentioned.So i think u can relax. But still, if u r in any sort of uneasyness, then better create a new id in ur name & use that.......
