Well, doesnt to me.. The song shows they were pushed a lot. I guess at some point, you get used or become used to stuff.

Now, if the kids' father had pushed his younger son really hard in TZP (Darshal Safary, the dyslexic) , like his elder son. who knows he might have become a brillant tennis player. And Parakshit Sahini had pushed Madhavan despite his wish, maybe he could have become a super-duper engineer.

Sounds absurd? Well then, how do you justify him pushing kids hard, atleast in the beginning in Dangal. Ofcourse, the movie may show that the father realising that he should not push hard, & letting go & then the girls themselves choosing to wrestle. But the point remains...

^ reading too much into it.

That guy wanted son to follow his wrestling dreams, got daughters instead. turns out daughters have talent for wrestling, so he pushes them more towards achieving their dreams :)

Winning medals at commonwealth games isnt a big deal, almost all indian wrestlers competing at commonwealth win gold with assured medal .

Talent for wrestling? The way I saw the trailer, they bashed up a fellow kid for taunting them - I never knew bashing someone equates talent for wrestling.
They would have beaten others on the way to the medal even at commonwealth.. So, I will not question that.
My only point is - Was the effort voluntary initially ? The trailer/song indicates the answer is no. And I feel that since many praise aamir for showcasing topics where he encourages going where your heart is, kids must not be pushed. Well, this is the opposite.

well. as you yourself said. this is based on a true story and is not a fiction :D he did not create the characters. he 'artistically' portrayed what happened in reality.
