Hi,

I currently have DragonPath 707GR1 router and I am not very happy with it. Some of the devices (like I.P. camera) keep on getting disconnected and reconnected.

Few months ago, I tried to get it replaced (for other reason, USB port not working) but they didn't replace. I am on 200mbps (Rs.999) plan.

Is it a good idea to opt for 1gbps plan for a few days so that they replace my router to 1gbps router? I think these day, they are giving Dasan H660GM-A (correct me if it is not true).

Any other suggestions are welcome.

Dasan H660GM-A is a decent router, you can tinker with the settings by doing a superuser login via ip. The only flaw is it tends to heat up quite a bit and even restarts after hitting over 75 degrees. It mostly heats up when there's high data usage such as downloading large files (over 6gb in size). Performance wise it's good, heating is the only flaw.

edit: I haven't used it with I.P Camera but it doesn't have any disconnection issue.

Does it heat up for everyone or a few defective units?

Is it worth replacing?

Also if someone knows, I got Airtel broadband last year (Rs.999 plan) with 12 months advance rental. It is is ending this week, If I don't pay now, will it convert to prepaid or postpaid? Will my internet stop working until I pay advance monthly rental?

It heats up for everyone, one of my friend has it. Heats up the same under load.

Didn't you get the airtel black bundle? It has broadband + OTT + TV thing for 1099 a month and it's postpaid. I wasn't told about the advance yearly rental.
Yours should stay prepaid only, won't get converted to postpaid unless your connection gets converted to Airtel Black.

I didn't take Airtel black bundle because I don't want dish and additional wires. I am happy with my devices and apps subscriptions.
