Dataone BB is really getting a pain in a$...

with 500 C plan just in 6 hours i can leech 6-8 Gb data easily,Pls correct me if i am wrong

you can not download this much.2mbps means 256KBps which is the max speed possible & you will never get this much speed for long durations.your average speed would be around 220-230KBps.with this speed you can download 773MB in an hour.so total for 6 hrs will be 4.53GB.also you will get this much speed only if you use heavily seeded public torrents or private torrents.for http download from sites like link-removed you must have premium membership to get such high speeds at all times.

usually for unlimited connections username/password are stored in modem itself & you just have to turn it on to connect.for home500 limit is 2.5GB & speed is upto 2mbps(usually it is 1.6-1.8mbps) with 2-8AM unlimited usage in night.bsnl count data transfer which means your surfing/uploading in case of torrents all will be considered along with downloading to determine how much you have used.

I have recently received my modem. The guy who set it up told me that you have to wait for 10 days to get the password? :(:(:(

Does it really take that long? And here you say that for UL connections it is saved in the modem? How can it possibly be?

Is there any way I can get my username and password earlier than 10 days?

I have UL 900 plan. 256kbps

well i guess that varies from city to city.. they have their own procedures etc etc.. and when a government service says 10 days.. then no way earlier :)

in my case i got username/pass instantly but they activated it only after 4 days as they forgot to activate it.in pppoe mode you have to enter your username/pass in modem setting & then you click connect in modem.once it is connected your username/pass is saved in modem & after that you just have to turn on the modem to connect to net.this method is preferred for unlimited connection as even if you leave your modem on 24hrs a day you there is no risk of crossing the download limit which is the case in limited plans like home500.

Bsnl is a real pain. Why can't they do everything at once. First the connection came after 7 days. Then the modem guy came after 7 more days. And now the password hasn't arrived as yet.Why can't they quote a time frame and complete everything at once? What the hell will do with the modem if I can't connect?

welcome to bsnl!in my case i had to wait 3 days before my username/password got activated & that too because i have contacts at local exchange.

lol its really so much sarkari i have been going daily to the exchange but still no result,All the ppl out there have no knowledge abt Broadband lols and one guy i met today told me i have to wait 10 days before getting the details damn it :(((((Also i want to change the plan to 500 C but the problem is that they say u have to wait for 3 months before changing the plan@whitestar:Lol i also have some good contacts in exchange and i just came to know that today lols one of Best friend's dad is Junior SDo or sumthin which is the second most highest post,I don't want approach but is it possible that with conatcts i can get the plan changed before 3 months,If its possible i will surely go to him for the help ;)

well it depends on exchange to exchange.in some exchanges it won't be possible.but if possible then definitely use approach.it always helps.

Para two : Did you get a 14Digit Portal ID to check your usage ? Check usage here.
BSNL - Broadband Account Management
You can record your usage details locally in your computer with this pgm ( with a timer)
Tautology Bandwidth Meter - Internet Traffic Usage Monitor
Para three : I have replied to your idea of using same connection both at Home and Office.

Update0545 PM : Since you are in 900 u/l plan , BSNL, thinks you are migrating to a lower plan.
After they get whatever security deposit to be paid for 900u/l plan, migration should be easy.
After three months the amount will be readjusted.
Send an email to customercare asking for Tariff change with effect from 1st March.
