Hello,Im a user of bsnl 500 2-8am ul plan.My router is ut300r2u,i've been having these regular problems with 2-8am downloads..always it seems as though i've been charged for a certain period during the ul dwnld time.....and i generally keep my pc on auto shutdown at 745am.Is it true that even though your pc is off and the power supply to the router is on,the router continues to send invalid data to the server for which i may be charged???...and if it is.....is there anyway by which i can auto disconnect my router at a specified time??Also lemme know the other possible causes for the discrepancy in free download charges............THANKS.

Welcome to Broadbandforum.in
If you go through old threads you will find the information.

https://broadband.forum/mtnl-triband-broadband/4251-utstarcom-bridge-mode-configuration-automatic-router-reboot/

Monitor you usage locally also.
Tautology Badwidth - Internet Traffic Usage Monitor
ShaPlus Bandwidth Meter - Freeware to display bandwidth consumed for session, day and month.
Regarding query : you can check the download in meter
1. with computer/modem on and a download in progress.
2. with computer off/modem on.
3. again computer on.

I wonder why admin not making this 2am - 8am / home 500 plan /schedule download thing a sticky thread this asked several times and answered but newbies don't able to search and find I remember how desperate when I was as a newbie to this schedule searching
there is another option too (cuz restarting modem takes 2 minute you can download that time also until the last second before 8 am.... he he if u sync with server time)
you need to create your connection in bridge mode (search forum it is really easy )
open notepad and type

rasdial "dataone" userid password

replace userid with name and password with ur psw, dataone is the name of the dialup connection you created when u configure modem in bridge mode and create a dialup connection
save it as connect.bat in C drive select save as all file option

also create disconnect.bat by typing

rasdial dataone /disconnect

schedule these using xp system scheduler

all these are posted earlier somewhere ,sometimes the forum search can't find it it depends on your key word

there is also sunish's usage finder and scheduler freeware on sunish.net | - Thinkings of a tinker who thinks he's a thinker

@vkam not too much.... since pppoe consumes some(a very small) bit of ur bandwidth, bridged mode might give u SLIGHTLY higher speeds... also, in pppoe mode ur connection is always active unless u turn off ur router....this increases data consumption significantly and u'll end up finishing ur allowed limit sooner(1 or 2 days sooner)...
