Hi Vissu

Thanks a lot for the information. I tried hard for Kingston DDR2 SDRAM in Kolkata(my locality) of part number KVR667D2E5/1G (this is compatible with S975XBX2) and only found in one shop with insane price of 3200 INR. Kingston itself sell it at 30 USD (excluding shipping). I grabbed 3 addresses in Kolkata where offices/shop of Kingston affiliated company (Ingram Micro, KobianKare and Transtek) is present. I will call them tomorrow , Monday.

But the preferable SDRAM of Samsung (Intel tested their SDRAM) is almost impossible to find here. I went to the website of Samsung, then sell SDRAM in MOQ(Minimum Order Quantity) of 5 and to businesses not to consumers. So, i need to get contact of some distributors or retail shop to grab that RAM. If you have that information, please share it.

Regards

they might heard your words as sdram  sdram is too expensive. tell them as ddr2. it will not be more than 1100 bucks for 1gb ddr2 ramQ: is your motherboard old model?

DDR2 RAM is a type of SDRAM. What you are referring as SDRAM is actually SDR SDRAM. SDR stands for Single Data Rate and DDR stands for Double Data Rate. (Though the shop owners and general public know that there are two types of RAM viz. SDRAM and DDR )So, basically i wanted DDR2 not SDR. Anyway thanks:) for your reply.

Yes, you are correct sujoy, but vissu is saying that the shop keeper may have presumed you want SDR SDRAM, most shopkeepers aren't that knowledgeable.

As far as Kingston RAM prices go, 1GB DDR2 667MHz RAM is for Rs. ~1000. Same price roughly for Corsair and Transcend too.

TheITWares - Memory RAM Prices in Mumbai.

Dont pay a penny more than 1000 for DDR2 1GB.In Bangalore, 1GB of DDR1 itself costs 1300. So, DDR2 MUST cost lesser anywhere in India.

Thanks Karan. TheITWare shows good list of RAM and at reasonable price, but it lacks the model number/part number for Kingston RAM. I had got some Kingston RAM (like KVR800D2N5 , which is not compatible with S975XBX2) at 1100 INR. It is the KVR667D2E5/1G that that shop is claiming 3200 INR for.I will try to call up Ingram Micro, Transtek and KobianKare tomorrow in order to make a deal directly with them for that model.

Thanks to mshiva,Motorazor143 for sharing the information.

Regards
Sujoy
