Looks like Airtel automatically activates Hotstar without permission and it will stay active as long as you are an Airtel customer. Hotstar can't remove the subscription for you and even if you upgrade your Hotstar subscription, Airtel's original one will continue along with it. Looks like I will have to contact Airtel on how to get rid of it.
Yes, though I think they should refund if you inform them. A relative had Amazon prime renewed even though he had asked to have it removed - maybe it was possible only after being billed so the executive never really did cancel. Calling back a week after finding out that he has been billed again was good enough for them to reverse the amount of 999.
