21st Century Fox has been holding talks to sell most of the company to Disney: Sources

For Disney, the opportunity to take control of another movie studio and significant TV production assets as it readies a direct-to-consumer entertainment streaming offering is attractive as is Fox's significant exposure to international markets, such as the U.K., Germany and Italy — both through its networks and 39 percent ownership of Sky. Disney recently announced it will pull all of its movies from the Netflix platform and will establish two direct-to-consumer offerings: one for sports and one including its key franchises such as "Star Wars" and Marvel.

Disney would not purchase all of Fox, according to people with knowledge of the talks.

In addition to the movie studio, TV production and international assets such as Star and Sky, Disney would also add entertainment networks such as FX and National Geographic.

Disney in India only owns UTV channels which it bought long ago, and Disney also has partnership with Sony for Sony ESPN Sports channels. If at all Disney buys Star Soprts channels as well, it would be virtually only Sports broadcaster in India as Neo Sports and DSports (Discovery) are not major players or has any major content.

Disney dropped its plan of acquiring netflix long time ago.

Disney is actually in process of building its own netflix type subscription service. Should be huge considering they own star wars, marvel, plus classic disney animation cartoons. plus they also own espn and abc so if they bundle live tv along with their app, its gonna give serious competition to netflix
 
If they acquire Fox, Star and Sky groups TV, Movie production and Sports broadcast, they would virtually own World's complete entertainment network :D
 
dont forget, they have multiple production companies and even animation studios like pixar. why hasnt disney been broken into different parts yet?

Trump already opposing AT&T merger with Time Warner as he feels it would make CNN more powerful.
 
probably applies to usa and some other major markets. star trek is cbs in usa but netflix has it in rest of the world. people in usa are not happy with cbs streaming service. disney would face the same problem eventually. people are happy to pay for one or maybe 2-3 platforms (hulu? prime?) but to pay for individual service (like cbs and now disney) with their own digital library? idiocy.
