Does a Jio postpaid family plan cost less as compared to paying individually?

I am on Jio postpaid 1+3.
For your use case, i.e. 1+2, the monthly bill will be 749+GST i.e. 884. Total pooled data will be 85 GB 4G and unlimited 5G, which can be used in any ratio by the family without any daily limit.
You can pay with Amz Friday Rupay offer to get 100 discount or via Airtel tns with Airtel card to get 88 cashback. With Amz offer your yearly cost will be 9408 for 3 connection or 241/SIM/28 days. With Airtel Card it will be 245.
For 1+3, if you add your connection also, bill will be 1061/mth. With Amz offer it will be 222/SIM/28 days and with Airtel Card it will be 220/SIM/28 days with 90 GB pooled 4G and unlimited 5G data.
 
Currently on the Airtel 1199 family plan(1+3) which was previously 999. I feel the amount I am paying is on the higher side. We have total four members in our family, if Jio is offering unlimited 5G data, I am planning to switch to Jio Postpaid. There is a difference of 350 rupees between Jio and Airtel, the only benefit with Airtel is that it offers a total of 390GB data(unlimited 5G).
I would like to know if there are any call drop issues with Jio? My father takes a lot of business calls and I don't want his work to get affected just to save 350 rupees. How does the 5G/4G compare to Airtel?

@87056 i personally have seen jio doesn’t have stable calls on both wifi calling and volte

My sister faces a ton of voice drops in the call with jio

And mind you i live in a place which has almost direct sight to 5G tower + a ton of 4G towers yet jio has poor calls

Jio to Jio VoLTE call
Jio to Airtel 480p ish call quality
Jio to Vi 360p ish call quality

Jio to Vi has a lot of issues idk why i have to keep calling my sister through whatsapp to avoid such issues

Tho i feel this might be solved post 1st Feb with the new EMF rules but i dont wanna get my hopes up

Btw which handset does ur father use?
 
My father is using the nothing phone 2a which has good signal reception.
I read somewhere that there is some sort of difference in quality of service between prepaid and postpaid users? Is that true?
Also i couldn't find any reliable review online for Jio Postpaid.

I don't mind paying those 353 rupees extra to Airtel if they are providing better service than Jio.

For my knowledge here’s a brief overview

Jio for Unlimited 5G
Airtel for Calls
Vi for 4G usage (especially in dense areas)

None of them offer a perfect solution for your fathers use case

As Jio has the best 5G speeds with no cap but its riddled with call quality issues

Then Airtel has 5G NSA which maxes out at 250mbps (speed isnt an issue but there 300gb cap is) but Airtel has good calling experience especially if the call is from Airtel to Airtel

Lastly Vi ,no 5G yet but there 4G works.ive been to crowded places to completely covered lower ground malls Vi is the only one which works in such locations 4G + calls , only Vi to Vi support Volte for other operators the call quality reduces

all the above mentioned is from Mumbai Circle

@87056 i think jio postpaid might be a good idea for your fathers phone

Since he uses a new phone with no history of network issues
 
I never had any issues with Airtel in terms of 5G speeds, never ran speed tests but the UPI payments work flawlessly. I am always able to stream music/videos on the go without any lag or buffer.
We live in a fairly posh area of Pune where there are no network issues in my apartment, I get full 5G signal in my iPhone as well.
I think switching to Jio might help me save a decent amount of money annually if not monthly.
Others might be able to confirm any call drop issues in their circle. Thanks for your input @Kyle Crane

I find the 649₹ plan on Jio postpaid very interesting

It literally has no daily limit on 4G + unlimited 5G
 
So turns out porting out of Airtel Family Plan is not that easy. First I have to discontinue the family plan and get individual plan for all the numbers and then only the porting code will be generated. This seems like too much of a hassle dealing with Airtel's "premium" customer care(the irony).
I have decided to stick with Airtel for now and bear the additonal 350 rupees I am paying compared to Jio 😵‍💫.

To anyone out there who is lured by Airtel Black and it's gimmicky marketing, do note that they make your life hell when you want to disconnect your connection. I personally won't recommend Airtel to anyone from now on.

I have both Airtel postpaid family and Jio postpaid family. Also have Vi prepaid. There is no perfect service. Airtel has greater voice coverage, particularly in remote areas, due to their 3G/2G fallback. Call drops depend on your location. I have experienced Airtel call drops in certain locations and Jio call drops in other locations. Interestingly, Jio call drop is more if set on 5G but there is very little call drop if network is set to 4G, but this can also be a handset issue. Total data allowance is more in Airtel but that kindly of nullify as long as Jio is providing free 5G.
Never opt for Airtel black, its a black hole that has no escape route. Even for non-black family plan, there is no easy way to port. The best option is to first break the family plan and convert each SIM to prepaid, wait for 90 days and then port. If you are continuing with Airtel then opt for Axis Airtel Card. It will get 250 cashback every month on the airtel bill.
Airtel 1199 has free benefit of 22 OTT through xstream Play incl Sonyliv, Lionsgate, fancode etc which is not available on Jio plan. And this works on any network any platform with the same login..
