So me and few friends are planning a trip to mumbai and pune this summer vac. I just reading about it and learned that drinking age is 25 their and you need some special permit to buy alcohol.
Is this law regularly enforced there? We would of course be buying alcohol from local shops as well as going to bars.
We are all 21 or +-1. Should i be worried about it?
And lastly, seriously mumbai, 25?!!!

AFAIK, the stores will let you buy booze. The bars, i am not sure.
The safest way to drink is to buy booze from a shop and drink at home.
I do visit bars, but not the pricey ones.

BTW I live in Navi Mumbai, things might be a tad bit different in Mumbai.
But from personal experience, I have never be denied any booze be it bar or shops, but yeah don't risk it is what I'd suggest.
Drinking at home/hotel room seems to me the convenient, cheaper and safer way to do it.

Pretty much the same here in Delhi. You are only going to be refused alcohol (or asked for an ID)if you look too young. Or there is a drive going on against underage drinking. Or you are just having bad luck as you land in a pub where cops are looking for a quick cash.

I have never been denied from buying booze in Mumbai. There are some pretty good bars in Mumbai (South) which are open till late night.
