Endangered Species is part of an on-going project by Padma Shri Sudharak Olwe.
The series includes an extensive photo story by photojournalist Sudharak Olwe and a two-part documentary series by film-maker Nirman Chowdhury. Malnutrition is a looming threat over the lives of millions of India's children in rural and tribal areas. Failure to tackle this menace has resulted in extremely vulnerable communities and impact on local development and economy.
The first part of the docu-series explores the issue of Malnutrition in the Tea Garden Labour populations, one of the most marginalized communities in the country, the prevalence of Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM), unequal distribution of services in Muslim majority districts and Bodoland territory and the lack of health workers and services in some of the worst-hit districts of Assam.
