energy saving device !

I had a Samsung 7 yr old 310 ltr which used to take around 3.5 units a day. This was no energy star rated.
In the 12 hours last night it has consumed 1.4kwh. Not able to see the PF consolidated but witnessed it at 55, 67 and 100 at different times I was checking on it. Will let it run a day or two more.Your new fridge, how much does it consume? What is its star rating?

That list is incomplete. I bought Panasonic NR-BW465X-SX3, it is not rated in India, it is rated 1 out of 5 stars in HK (1 being the best)

it is however rated 3 stars in NZ out of 6 ( 6 being the best), but point to note is that AS/NZ standards are very stringent. For example, The split that I've is 3.4 COP and 5 star rated in India, where as in AS/NZ their 6 star split is around 5.5 COP, so the scale is totally different.
Some vendors say that DC inverter technology products has not yet got any rating scale in India, still I find rating on Samsungs & LGs, no idea what scale they refer to. I asked another OEM (not mentioning the name), and they said that whoever is rating their AC and fridges with inverter technology is flouting rules.
Here is my old Samsung's data:
9-Jan-2013 to 30-May-2013 : 141 days : 350.11 Kwh : Avg 2.483
It ran at 3.35Kwh/day between Mar and May.
I lost the reading of the new fridge as I recently did some home improvement in order to go green, I had reset the meter on 21-Aug, but before that it was averaging around 2.5kwh/day. Note, that I've increased the size from 310L to 465L.

Well that depends on how smart you are. Lots of people in my neighborhood did that with Reliance Power, when after 3-4 years they found tempering they settled with some random amounts (much lower than what legitimate consumption could have caused) which some people accepted and other simple refused to pay and went with another meter company Tata Power. Also they threatened Reliance guys + filed a case of Fraud against Reliance (one of them was Lawyer) that they are doing malpractice, case is still pending after 3 years and no body seems to care about it.

Well that depends on how you want to go ahead with that, personally I never tried but almost 80% people in my colony does that. What do you think this big corporations care about electricity theft by residential consumer (which is hardly 500-600 units pm), there are bigger fishes like Industry who does that for all time and run away with 5k-8k units per month. There is nothing immoral in this, whether its illegal or not it totally depends upon you. This is great job, great find and I am proud of myself because there is nothing to discover things are already happening you just need to OPEN your eyes and SHUT the mouth,

@whoru007: How does it make one smart by involving in power theft ? Plus, how is one smart by not caring about the carbon emissions ?
Immoral or not that is upon you to decide, illegal or not is not for you to decide but is defined by the law of land my friend !
theft is theft, big or small does not justify it, nor does "someone else is doing it" debate will justify either. Your theft, is a loss to the economy, someone is paying for it, and most of the time if it is a public utility then it is the tax payers. Moreover, our being mindless on energy usage will be paid by our generations.
BTW, that 500-600 units pm figure is very vague, it should be mentioned as Kwh/sqft/year for any meaningful comparison.

Kept my enegry monitor on for 84 hours on newer fridge
Newer Samsung fridge ~8-9 years old consumes 9 KWH (or 9 units) in this duration.
Peak power consumtion 625W - PF varied at different times. I noticed it at 55, 67 and 100 too. On removal of the monitor doesnt give me a consolidated or average PF.
Another monitor for 48 hours on older fridge
Older Samsung fridge ~15 years old consumes 4.9 KWH (or 5 units) in this duration
At the moment shows PF of 81. Will keep this going for a few days.

Major power consumption is done by air conditioners .. Anything to save that ??

That's not bad, but I still say that you need to plug the meter for 365 days for the true picture. I checked the reading of my pana fridge, for last 9 days it is 2.15 kwh/day.@gaurango: there is no simple answer to your question, because there is no magic device that will save you money. You need to tell us your present AC model, tonnage, your room size, is it top floor, which direction does your room faces (east/west/north/south) ?
