Right. And a little Google search tells me IPB didn't even bother to reply to the suggestion. It may be there in IPB4. Can only hope so.
they actually responded to this in entries in their bug reporting platform. their response was more like... they do not consider it a bug. enabling redirect on merged threads would require the software to save all entries in database which would require a major modification in code and database structure so it was not something on their roadmap.

If they don't want their products to be sold by online manufacturers then restrict the supply to them. Why make consumers suffer. They are only doing this to entertain less and less of consumer complaints. Do every shop keeper have an authorised dealers certificate from manufacturer?

I just asked... Is it illegal for a manufacturer to restrict sales of their products through select channels?

They do its legal. Like they have different product codes for every country to differentiate. And customer can also differentiate. But in india how can a customer differentiate? Box is meant to be sold in india after the vat is paid and they are doing so.

They are probably doing this because the retailers are pressurising them and because offline sales are still much higher in India, they are obliging.

Wow so much happened...and I just came to know all of these now!!
But nothings official yet..I suppose....

Problem is that a dealer who has a physical shop might also start selling online.

Most sellers on Snapdeal also have registered brick and mortar stores and give bills with their store address. They have common inventory for products being sold online and in stores.

I know one such fellow who stocks a few basic models in a small store, where 99% of his sales comprises recharges. He also sells online with the same registration and gives same bill as he gives to store customers. How would any of these companies know if he's shipped it on online sale or sold it otc?

This thread needs to be updated in the wake of recent Diwali Sale.

HP has posted this advisory on its website.
